Dr Oz & Julie Morgenstern De-Clutter Your House
Did you know the biggest energy zapper in your life might be inside your house right now? (Stop looking at your husband!) It’s actually the space (or lack of) you have inside your home. On today’s show, Doctor Oz was joined by Organization Guru, Julie Morgenstern to show you easy ways to de-clutter your space and life.
Julie says that clutter is what steals a huge amount of time in the mornings. You find yourself searching for things you can’t find, which in turn makes you late for work and can make you grumpy all day.
Dr Oz: Refrigerator Organizing
Alyssa, a Dr Oz Fan located in Kansas, told Dr Oz via Skype that her clutter was in the kitchen. She spends hours looking for the simplest things and gets irritated when she can’t find them.
Julie suggested organizing the refrigerator for less clutter. Subdivide the groceries by the day of the week and keep them in a separate bin. When you come home, you just grab the divider of that day and do your cooking. It’s made simple and easy!
Dr Oz: Closet Organizing with Double Hanging Rod
Laurie Ann, an audience member, told Dr Oz that her closet clutter was zapping away her energy. She has piles of clothes in her bedroom. (They showed a picture and yes, it was completely cluttered…AKA a hot mess!)
Julie suggested changing the way you think about your closet. Most think horizontally with a shelf and a pole. Think vertical instead. Get a double hanging rod and instantly double your hanging space. For extra de-clutterfication (yes, I made up that word, thank you!) color code your clothes. You’ll be able to find things much easier.
Dr Oz: Magnet Makeup Board
Stephanie, an audience member, told Dr Oz that it took her too long to get ready for work in the mornings because everything is so cluttered in her bathroom.
Julie says this happens because you have limited space. There’s a sink and a mirror and you want everything around there. Magnetize your cosmetics by placing a small, inexpensive magnet on the back of your blush or eyeshadow. Place it onto a magnetic board and hang on the wall. It’s a cheap, easy fix.
