The 10-Day Detox Diet from Dr Mark Hyman is all about how to activate your body’s natural ability to burn fat and lose weight fast. Dr Hyman said that Americans are addicted to food, eating an average of 152 pounds of sugar and 146 pounds of flour annually. The food industry continues to hide sugar in yogurt, pasta sauce, and who knows where else. That has affected metabolism, brain chemistry, and hormones, causing what he called a physical addiction.

He said that not all calories all the same, and we can become physically addicted to sugar and flour ingredients. That is why his diet focuses on detox that can reboot your hormones, brain chemistry, and metabolism. Dr Oz wondered why Dr Hyman thought it was safe to lose so much weight in a short time period.

In response, Dr Mark Hyman cited a New England Journal of Medicine that found people who lost weight fast were more prone to lose extra weight and keep it off. He insisted people would be shocked at how much better they felt when they leave Feel Like Crap (FLC) Syndrome behind.

Dr Oz said that people should not blame themselves, and Dr Hyman called himself a holistic doctor using food as medicine to treat a variety of symptoms that are connected.

The first step on Dr Hyman’s plan is a Fiber Powder before every meal. This will shut down some of your hunger hormones. The Japanese Konjac Root powder contains seaweed, and brands include WellBetX PGX Plus Mulberry.

The powder will form into a gel, so you must drink it quickly before it begins to firm up. Choose a product that has PGX on the label, in capsule or powder form, consuming 2.5 to 5 grams before every meal.

Dr Hyman said this will slow down how quickly sugar is absorbed into your bloodstream, cutting off excess fat storage. Fiber will also absorb water to flush the GI system and keep you full.

Drink your breakfast to speed up the metabolism, Dr Hyman suggested. It’s time to bust cravings and burn fat, starting first thing in the morning for results all day long. Try these satisfying and healthy ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup frozen Blueberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen Cranberries
  • 1/4 Lemon (with rind)
  • 1 tbsp Almond Butter
  • 1 tbsp Pumpkin Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Hemp Seeds
  • 2 Walnuts
  • 1/4 Avocado
  • 1/2 tbsp Coconut Butter
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1/2 cup Water

Directions

  1. Combine ingredients in a blender and drink immediately.

Dr Oz: Detox Diet Unlimited Whole Foods

A great many meals containing whole foods are the keys to boosting detoxification on this diet. Dr Hyman said he loves to eat, and there are not counts to keep track of on this diet.

Choose quality proteins such as:

  • Chicken
  • Fish
  • Eggs
  • Tofu
  • Shrimp
