Dr Oz: 21-Day Tummy Review
Liz Vaccariello, author of 21-Day Tummy and editor-in-chief at Reader’s Digest, says the missing link to most diet plans is something called skinny gut bacteria, which your body’s own weight-loss weapon. She says this good bacteria not only helps you lose weight, but also improves your overall health by feeding the skinny bacteria. Liz explains that when the bacteria in your gut is not balanced it leads to inflammation and health issues, including obesity.
Dr Oz: Eat Red Quinoa to Shrink Your Belly
Liz’s plan focuses on the “tummy trifecta”, which includes three important ingredients to grow skinny bacteria and shrink your belly. She explained what they are and how to incorporate them into your diet.
Magnesium – Get a double boost of magnesium in the morning by eating about a tablespoon of pumpkin seeds, chia seeds or flax seeds with your breakfast. Liz also recommends talking to your doctor about adding a 400 MG supplement to your diet because it nourishes the skinny bacteria to help you get that flat belly you have always wanted.
Eat foods low on the “Fodmaps” for lunch and dinner – Liz says fodmaps are rapidly fermentable carbohydrates, or fast food for your gut. They keep things moving through your system because they are high in fiber and include foods like brown rice, polenta and quinoa. Liz suggests trying red quinoa because has a bit of a sweeter flavor than regular quinoa and a great addition to any meal.
Replace salty, fatty snacks with “MUFAS” – Mono unsaturated fatty acids are the best kind of fat to eat because they decrease inflammation and help to fight off dangerous belly fat. Some good examples include 1 ounce of dark chocolate, guacamole or a small serving of olives (about ¼ cup).
Dr Oz: Ginger Water Recipe to Fight Belly Fat
Liz Vaccariello brought along a bonus tip to help you get the flat tummy you desire! She says ginger gives us a healthy balance of gut bacteria while reducing inflammation, so she shared a ginger drink you make right at home!
