Mark Bittman: Eat Vegan Before 6:00 Review
Mark Bittman, author of Eat Vegan Before 6:00, told Dr. Oz he fell in love with food when he was a child because he says his mom put a home-cooked meal on the table every night. When he left home Mark realized he needed to learn to cook for himself, which he did by using simple ingredients to create healthy and delicious meals. Like so many people, though, Mark admits he did not make a major shift to healthier eating until a health scare woke him up to the fact he needed to take better care of himself. He says at 56-years-old he learned he had high blood sugar, high cholesterol and was pre-diabetic while also being overweight. Mark Bittman, a food writer, says his doctor of 30 years then told him he should become a vegan in order to turn his health around. Initially Mark says he found the idea crazy, but then realized he could combine the concept of eating a vegan, mostly plant-based diet, most of the time with a diet that also includes meat and all of the other foods he loves.
Mark Bittman’s Eat Vegan Rules To Follow
Mark Bittman says there was no magic formula that brought him to his lifestyle change that is now documented in his new book Eat Vegan Before 6:00, but he says he wanted to come up with a plan that he could realistically follow for life and that others could easily follow, too. Mark says he basically eats whole, healthy foods throughout the day and after 6 at night, he “lets it rip.”
