Dr Oz: Probiotic Diet for Weight Loss & Gluten-Free Diet Review

Dr Oz says a probiotic diet is good for weight loss because it kills bad bacteria and blasts fat in the belly.

Can you believe we are only a few weeks away from 2014 already? To mark the occasion Dr. Oz is counting down and sharing what health trends work and which ones do not and he is starting with the weight loss diets that everyone tried in 2013.

The Best Weight Loss Trend of 2013: The Probiotic Diet – Two women shared how they each lost 30 pounds this year just by switching out their breakfast for yogurt or Greek yogurt.

The Worst Weight Loss Trend of 2013: The Gluten-Free Diet – The misconception is that if something is gluten-free it must also be low in calories. Dr. Oz says this is because fat, sugar and oil is often added to processed gluten-free foods, which adds more calories instead of taking them away.

Dr Oz: Probiotic Supplement Recommendation

Dr. Oz explained how bad bacteria can accumulate in the gut, which leads to weight gain, especially in the belly area. He says probiotics are a good weight loss solution because they contain “good” bacteria, which literally begins to kill the bad stuff and reduce inflammation in the body leaving you feeling more energized and healthier overall. This is the reason Dr. Oz believes probiotics are the best weight loss trend of 2013. While you can get probiotics from foods like yogurt, kimchi and sauerkraut, he says a supplement works just as well.

  • Look for CFUs (Colony Forming Units) in the billions
  • Follow instructions on label
  • Check the date to be sure bacteria is still alive.
