Dr Ian Smith says his Shred 5-Minute Workout is designed to maximize your fat burn in a short amount of time!

Dr. Ian Smith has 3 secrets to share with you that will help you succeed in his Shred! Diet Plan. They are easy to remember since they all begin with the letter “S”.

Shredder Smoothies – Dr. Smith says he loves smoothies because they are packed with nutrition, but he says they are also great for people who are short on time and need to eat something healthy. Smoothies can be made at home or purchased on-the-go, so they are a super easy way to get healthy calories even during a busy day. Take a look at his recipe for the Energizer Smoothie!

Shredder Snacks – Dr. Ian Smith refers to snacks as bridges between meals. He says we eat way too many calories in our snacks, so he included over 200 snack options in his book, Shred! The Diet Revolution, which are low-calorie and delicious. I guarantee you will love his snack recipes for Shrimp Cocktail and English Muffin Pizza.

Shredder Soup – Dr. Ian Smith says that soups are great for weight loss because they are easy to make at home or find in a restaurant. He says to just be aware of the calories and sodium because in many cases, these counts can be very high in soup. Check out Dr. Smith’s favorite recipe for Chicken Noodle Soup.

Dr Oz: Shred 5-Minute Workout

Dr. Ian Smith says that it is not about the amount of time that you workout that matters as much as how hard you work, so he has a Shred 5-Minute Workout that focuses on raising your heart rate to maximize calorie burning.

  1. Chair Sit – Stand in front of a chair and bend like you are going to sit down, but stop about an inch from the chair and hold the position for 5 seconds. Repeat for 1 minute.
  2. Chair Steps – Put a chair in front of you and step up with one foot and then the other, and back down again. After you do this several times, you will begin to feel your heart rate rise, which is good to maximize fat burn. If the height of a chair is too challenging, Dr. Smith recommends doing this exercise with a step stool instead. Do this exercise for about a minute and a half or 4 sets of 15 steps.
  3. Side Straddle – Stand in a crouched position and scoot about 4 steps to the left then 4 steps back to the right. Dr. Ian Smith wants you to do about 10 full trips in 15 seconds. He says this is your goal, so focus on working up to that amount if this is a little challenging at first.
  4. Jump Rope – Dr. Ian Smith emphasizes that you do not need an expensive gym membership or equipment to get a good workout. He says to do 50 revolutions with a jump rope as part of his 5-Minute Workout. If you are unable to jump rope, you can lay a rope flat on the floor and jump back and forth over it 25 times. You will still raise your heart rate and burn calories.

Dr Oz: Dr Ian Smith – HIIT Workout

Dr. Ian Smith tells Dr. Oz that he believes in High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT, pronounced Hit) because so many people do not want to spend hours in a gym. A short, high intensity workout will help you burn calories and fat in a short amount of time, which is what a lot of people want from a workout.
