Dr Oz & Gary Taubes
Dr Oz’s Show on August 30, 2011 is called The Man Who Thinks Everything Dr Oz Says Is Wrong. Gary Taubes took on Doctor Oz and challenged many of the concepts and ideas that Dr Oz often preaches about. Taubes believes that many of the things that Dr Oz says, especially when it comes to how to lose weight, are wrong. For example, Gary Taubes believes that Dr Oz is wrong that eating fat makes you fat and that people get fat from eating too much and exercising too little. Dr Oz often speaks about including complex carbohydrates in your diet to be healthy, even if you are trying to lose weight. But Taubes vehemently disagrees and says that we should be eliminating all carbs – both simple carbs and complex carbs. While Dr Oz says that we should minimize the amount of saturated fats that we consume, Gary Taubes eats all forms of fat including foods like lard, steak, bacon and cheeseburgers. Though on a personal note, I’d much rather be allowed to keep some carbs in my diet and eliminate the saturated fats, but then again, I am a total carb-a-holic! Dr Oz: Algae Oil & Chromium
Doctor Oz played a game called Got A Bad Habit? to teach everyone about different natural remedies like Algae Oil & Chromium. Dr Oz suggested taking Algae Oil if you tend to skip exercising, because it can help to naturally increase your HDL Cholesterol (which is the healthy cholesterol in your body). Another remedy is to take 1000 IU of Vitamin E before going out in the sun, because it can help to protect your body from getting sunburn. And finally, by taking 200 mcg of Chromium daily, you can improve your body’s insulin sensitivity – which is a great thing for all of us with a sweet tooth!
