Dr Oz: Portobello Pizza Recipe

Dr Oz Carob Chips

Dr Oz spoke about making Carob Chips instead of using chocolate. This is the best recipe that has ever been on the Doctor Oz Show!

Dr Oz: Portobello Pie vs Pizza

1 large Portobello mushroom
1 Tbsp pasta sauce (low-sugar)
½ C shredded cheese (low-fat)
Vegetable toppings of your choice

Preheat oven to 375°F degrees
Use a cleaned and de-stemmed Portobello mushroom in place of crust
Place the mushroom on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes(this dries it out)
Remove the mushroom from the oven
Add 1 Tbsp of the low-sugar pasta sauce
Drizzle ½ C low-fat shredded mozzarella cheese
Add your favorite vegetable toppings
Bake for an additional 20 minutes (or until cheese is melted)
Dig In!
This recipe cuts out about 175 calories than what you would’ve had.

Dr Oz: Popped Chickpeas Recipe

1 Tbsp olive oil
1 can of drained chickpeas
Your favorite spices (to taste)

Sauté the chickpeas in the olive oil (until they pop)
Sprinkle with your favorite spices

Doctor Oz says you can also go the lazy route (like me) and purchase pre-packaged foods. The Good Bean and Somersaults snack replacements help get rid of salt cravings. These products contain more protein and fiber than unhealthy potato chips.

Dr Oz: Carob Chip Recipe vs Chocolate Chips

1/3 C coconut oil
½ C carob powder
1 -1 1/2 Tbsp sugar substitute
1 tsp vanilla extract

Melt coconut oil over low heat
Remove from heat and stir in carob powder
Stir in sugar substitute
Stir in vanilla
In Tbsp drops on parchment lined baking sheet, drop in the dough
Refrigerate until solid

Each piece is only 50 calories so you can have two. Dr Oz calls this the best recipe he’s ever had on his show. Carobs taste like chocolate, but contains less fat and fewer calories. They’re also caffeine-free.

    On the carob chocolate chip cookies what dough are you talking about, they were terrible, nothing but soupy stuff, I need the dough recipe to put in, also, do you mean just one and one half tablespoons sweetener? Please reply, I want to remake the cookies. Thanks, Joan

    Joan – they are not really cookies, more like big chocolate chips. The mix is very soupy when you drop it onto the parchment, but it hardens up very quickly in the fridge. They are delicious once hardened! Like dark chocolate. I used about 1 tbsp of Zero sweetner, which is Erythitol, and it tastes not very sweet, like 70% dark chocolate.

    I made this recipe and got 4 chips and tasted one. It was awful. Will stick to my dark chocolate

    They aren’t meant to go in cookies, or be really sweet, that’s the point, they are healthier than dark chocolate. They are just chocolate pieces to satisfy your chocolate cravings instead of eating dark chocolate full of calories and caffeine. I loved this recipe! I used Splenda.
