Dr Oz: Hungry Girl Sloppy Janes Recipe & String Cheese Snack

Dr Oz made another Hungry Girl favorite, her Sloppy Janes recipe, which is another easy dinner idea; benefits of string cheese & beets.

It’s got 265 calories, compared to the typical Sloppy Joe Recipe, with 686 calories.


  • 1 pound Lean Ground Turkey (or beef)
  • 1 teaspoon Dry Steak Seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Red Pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar
  • 1 3/4 cup Canned Crushed Tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 tablespoon Natural Sweetener
  • Light Buns
  • Salt & Pepper


  1. Brown the ground turkey in a skillet.
  2. Stir in peppers, onion and spices. Add Worcestershire.
  3. Add canned crushed tomatoes and tomato paste to create a light sauce.
  4. Use a natural sweetener to create a sweet sauce if desired.
  5. Serve on a bun.

Tracy on Facebook suggested bringing coconut oil, aspirin and duct tape. Elisabeth quizzed an audience member, who wanted to bring water purifying tablets and lip gloss.

Dr Oz said he would take beets, because they are high in iron. He’d also bring a scalpel, which could have many uses on an island.
