Dr Oz Microwave Salmon 4 Minute Meal & Premenopausal Rage

Dr Oz Premenopausal Rage / Perimenopausal Rage

Dr Oz’s show on August 31, 2012 is called “Explosive Wives: Do You Suffer From Perimenopausal Rage?”  While I do not like the title of this show at all, the topic is very interesting and gave me a new perspective on what Doctor Oz calls Perimenopausal Rage or Premenopausal Rage.  First of all Dr Oz put together a plan to help women suffering with Perimenopausal Rage which includes typical things like birth control pills and progesterone cream (nothing new here!), but he also put together a special Perimenopausal Rage Diet which sounds very promising.  I know that when I cut sugar, alcohol and caffeine out of my diet, I tend to be in a better mood overall.

Dr Oz also made Microwave Meals and shared recipes to help us get dinner on the table in minutes.  He made a cheesy chicken quesadilla recipe (healthy of course!) with ingredients like black beans, whole wheat tortillas and pre-cooked chicken breasts.  But the recipe that really seemed to grab everyone’s attention was Dr Oz’s Microwave Salmon Recipe.  With flavors like ginger, orange, garlic, thyme and cilantro, what is not to love?  Do you have any favorite microwave meals or recipes?  Please share them in the comment section below!

Dr Oz also did a segment on What Your Face Says About Your Health.  Did you know that yellow eyes can indicate a problem with your liver, like a jaundiced liver?  Dr Oz said that one remedy for yellow eyes is to take 200 mg of milk thistle every day.  He also spoke about red cheeks being a sign for an underactive thyroid.  And there is even a blood pressure lip test!

Zucchini Cupcakes: Take one boxed white cake mix, add what the box calls for; but, instead of the oil, I use a heaping 1/3 Cup of Applesauce without sugar. Beat with electric hand mixer. Then add a little vanilla, cinnamon, a large cup of chopped walnuts and one very large cup of shredded zucchini. (I use a hand grater for the zucchini. Beat again to get all ingredients mixed. You can leave a little green on the zucchini for color. Bake for 15 minutes. (or less depending on your oven.) I like to bake cupcakes for 15 minutes then they are not dry. Test them with a toothpick. Depending on the size of your cup cakes, maybe 14 minutes will be enough time. I frost with (Pillsbury Buttercream Frosting from the can with a walnut on top. (I am not sure if I can say Pillsbury legally!)

Did you know, Nature’s Tea Leaf carries Red Clover Tea which is rich in a variety of nutrients and vitamins including potassium, magnesium and vitamin C. Though known as an herbal aid in the treatment of some forms of cancer, the isoflavones in red clover, which are said to act like estrogen, have been used to help ease hot flashes associated with menopause.
