Dr Oz: #1 Misused Over-The-Counter Drug in America: Pain Killers


Dr Oz did a segment on the Most Misused OTC Drugs , and then he followed up with a segment on The #1 Misused Over-The-Counter Drug in America, which is pain killers called NSAIDS or Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs.  Doctor Oz said that we spend $250 million a year on pain medication, but could it be more powerful and toxic than you think?  Could your pain killers actually be killing you?

Dr Oz: NSAIDS or Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug

Dr Oz said that NSAIDS include medications such as Advil, Aleve, and Motrin.  The problem is that people are using them too much Dr Oz Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugsand for too long without their doctors even knowing about it, and NSAIDS can cause problems with the stomach lining and increase your risk of getting stomach ulcers.

Dr Oz: OTC Pain Killers

Dr Oz said that you can help prevent some of these side effects of NSAIDS by taking them with food.  Also, you should not take them for more than 10 days.  Nancy Nkansah, Pharm D and professor of pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco, told Dr Oz that NSAIDS also increase your risk of kidney problems, strokes, and heart attacks.

    Very educational to me. I have wanted to know what NSAIDS are. Also want to know what Beta-Blockers are. Am curious about oxycodones amphamine does in long run. Do know med OPEM(?) taking as needed they think has caused cirrusious of live. Need something for PV and to stop nausia. Same w/ oxycodone (amphmaine). Both since 2002. Need now for Fibromylgia. Right now on meds for fluicd in body, heart and lungs.
