Dr Oz did a show called Life At 700 Lbs: Can This Woman Be Saved? Imagine living your life and weighing 700 pounds. You are essentially trapped inside of your own body and simple tasks like bathing become impossible. You end up relying on other people for everything, knowing that at any minute the strain on your heart, body and organs could be too much. Doctor Oz went out on a mission to help save Colleen Williams, a 700 pound woman.
Dr Oz: 700 Pound Woman
Dr Oz showed images of Colleen Williams at 10 years old (when she weighed 180 pounds), at 16 years old (when she weighed 420 pounds) and at 21 years old (when she weighed 581 pounds). Colleen says that she is addicted to food and eating and the calm it brings – even though she knows it is killing her. She was bullied growing up. People would make animal noises and throw food at her to the point that she felt emotionally mutilated every single day. Today, the pressure on Colleen’s joints, muscles and back hurt ever day and she cannot walk more than 30-40 steps without feeling winded. She sleeps sitting up, because otherwise she cannot breathe, and it makes her very sad that she cannot lie down next to her husband. Her husband, Derek, does everything for her – he showers her and gets food for her. Colleen said that she wants to have a family and be a mom at some point, but she cannot have that if things continue like this.
Dr Oz: Colleen Williams Diet Plan
Dr Oz visited Colleen Williams to try and understand what goes on in her mind and how she got to this point of weighing over 700 pounds. She said that she wants to avoid the stress of everyday life and the stress of everything she carries with herself from growing up, and she does this with food. When she eats, she says it numbs her pain, makes it all go away and it becomes tolerable. Food is the one thing that is stable in Colleen’s life.
