Dr Oz: Skin Secrets

Dr Oz’s Under 40 Survival Guide contained three Skin Secrets to keep your skin looking young.  Dr Elizabeth Tanzi told Doctor Oz that the first thing that women under 40 should know is that you should not wait until you see your first wrinkle to worry about aging skin.  Look at your skin care regimen carefully, because habits you may think are harmless could actually be making you age faster than you think.  The good news is that with a few simple changes, you can get young looking skin for years to come!  Here are Dr Oz and Dr Tanzi’s top three Skin Secrets:

Dr Oz: Vitamin C Serum In The Morning & Retinols At Night

Dr Oz’s first guest said that she works so hard to keep her skin healthy, but that she is not getting the results that she Dr Oz Adult Acnewants.  Dr Jennifer Tanzi said that she is making a big mistake with the timing of when she uses her products. You want to use your Vitamin C Serum in the morning to protect your skin from the sun, pollution and stress because it helps to protect your skin against the breakdown of collagen.  If you are looking for a good Vitamin C Serum, definitely check out this review: Vitamin C Serum Review.  Retinols stimulate collagen and are the only anti-wrinkle ingredient that is proven to work, but it breaks down in the sunlight, so Retinols must be used at night.

Dr Oz: Sunscreen Application Tips

Doctor Oz’s second guest said that she loves being in the sun, but she uses sunscreen all day long.  However, she said that she still has wrinkles on her hands and neck and wants to know what she can do?  Dr Oz said that she is likely not putting sunscreen in the right places.  Dr Tanzi’s rule was that you must apply daily SPF like you would at the beach.  Do not forget to apply sunblock to your hairline, next to your eyes, around your ears, on your neck, hands and chest.

Dr Oz: Adult Acne 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide

Dr Oz’s final guest said that her teenage acne is making a bad comeback, but the same products that she used to use no longer works for her Adult Acne.  Dr Jennifer Tanzi said that it is very common for women in their 20’s through 50’s to get Adult Acne.  Up to 50% of women will have adult breakouts at some point in their life.  She said that you should treat Adult Acne with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, which is a much lower dose than the 5-10% Benzoyl Peroxide that teenagers use.  Adult breakouts are caused by hormone changes, stress and lack of sleep.  These different causes of acne need different treatments so that your skin does not get dried out, which increases inflammation and worsens acne while speeding up the aging process.
