Doctor Oz spoke about what is causing your Cankles. Are Cankles unhealthy? Cankles are when your calf merges straight into your ankle. The guest on Dr Oz calls Cankles “Chubby Ankles” or Chubsters instead.
Causes of Cankles:
Cankle Cause #1: Pregnancy
Cankle Cause #2: Fat Foods
Cankle Cause #3: Heart & Kidneys
Your ankle is made up of a thinner bone on the outside and a thicker bone on the inside, with tendons that wrap around your ankle to help you to move. When the fat cells in your ankle become engorged, you put on extra tissue around the ankle, which causes Cankles or Fat Ankles! If this is causing your Cankles, it is most likely hereditary.
A bigger problem is if your Cankles are not hereditary and are being caused by heart and kidney problems. If there is not the right motion of fluid through your body, your heart can pump fluid to your ankles.
Pitting Edema in Cankles
If you push down on the fat in your ankles, and the pits stay there for a few seconds, like when you push down on a memory foam mattress – you may have Pitting Edema. Pitting Edema can be a sign of heart failure or kidney issues, so see a doctor if you have Pitting Edema in your Cankles.
Cankle Cure #1: Parsley
Salt holds onto fluids in your body, so by eating parsley, you encourage your body to release the fluid it is retaining.
Cankle Cure #2: Horse Chestnut
Doctor Oz said that Horse Chestnut increases your blood vessels desire to hold onto fluid, rather than depositing the fluids at places like your ankles.
Ankle Liposuction for Cankles
Doctor Oz also said that another option is to get Liposuction of the Ankle, where they remove fat from the inside and outside of the ankle. Ankle Liposuction costs $6,000. A cheaper alternative to Ankle Liposuction is the exercise, so that you build up your calf muscle and the proportion will look better – try jumping rope!
