Dr Oz: Foam Sclerotherapy for Varicose Veins: Dr Neil Sadick

Dr Oz: Varicose Veins

Dr Oz was joined by Dr Neil Sadick to demonstrate a new Varicose Vein Treatment called Foam Sclerotherapy.  Doctor Oz said that it is a myth that crossing your legs causes Varicose Veins.  Here is what really causes Varicose Veins and the latest Varicose Vein Procedure that uses a Vein Viewer to make your veins appear a florescent green color and then they get injected with a mixture of air and saline solution that becomes a foam.

Dr Oz: Varicose Vein Causes

Doctor Oz said that if you look deep inside of your body when you are first born, you will see lots of healthy Dr Oz Varicose Vein Procedureveins.  But overtime, the valves on the inside of your veins can fail.  These valves are supposed to close to keep blood from going the wrong direction, because your blood should always be flowing towards your heart.  Eventually, if one valve fails, then another one beneath it is likely to fail, and slowly you start to develop the squiggly lines that we recognize as Varicose Veins.  Dr Oz said that sometimes Varicose Veins can cause swelling and pain, and at this point it really goes beyond a cosmetic problem.

Dr Oz: Foam Sclerotherapy Varicose Vein Treatment

Dr Neil Sadick demonstrated how he does a Foam Sclerotherapy Varicose Vein Procedure on Dr Oz’s Assistant-Of-The-Day, Rhonda.  First, he used a Vein Viewer which is an infrared light source that allows the doctor to see exactly where the veins are located.  Then he wiped the area clean.  Next, Dr Oz shook up a mixture of air and saline solution to create a foam, hence the name Foam Sclerotherapy, which then gets injected into the Varicose Veins.  The procedure is almost painless, you see immediate results, and the results are permanent within 3-12 weeks.  Dr Sadick told Dr Oz that the treatments cost $700 – $1100 per leg.  The old Varicose Vein Treatments hurt because of the saline solution that used to be used, but this you can barely feel.  Dr Sadick said that you are eligible for Foam Sclerotherapy if you have elevated veins (Varicose Veins) or even if you have larger Spider Veins.  And in addition to making your legs look cleaner cosmetically, the treatment actually improves your circulation so that you have health legs as well.
