Dr Oz: Foods for Clogged Arteries
Looking for foods to turn back the hands of time? On today’s show, Doctor Oz showed you the healthy foods that can turn back the clock on your insides and add years to your life.
Jennifer, an audience member, told Dr Oz that she had a family history of heart disease. Her father has an enlarged heart and her grandmother was just diagnosed with heart disease. To keep healthy, she just joined a gym and plus, had her 4 kids to keep her on her toes. (Anyone with at least 1 kid know this to be true!) Jennifer told Dr Oz she also changed her diet and ate more green veggies. She also baked foods instead of frying them.
Dr Oz says your arteries are like a circular tube. These superfoods are so powerful, they can keep the tube from becoming clogged.
Cantaloupe & Kiwi for Clogged Arteries
Cantaloupe and Kiwi act to inhibit rust formation that happens in our blood vessels. (Oxidation) The more you eat, the more benefit you have. Eat 1 cup cantaloupe and 1 cup kiwifruit per day for maximum benefits.
Shrimp Unclogs Arteries
Dr Oz says that when you eat shrimp you may think it messes up the cholesterol in the body. This is a big fallacy. It’s not the amount of cholesterol you eat, it’s the amount of fat you eat that clogs the arteries. The cholesterol in shrimp is good because it functions as plastic wrap, so to speak. Instead of depositing itself in the arteries and clogging them up, it gives you a chemical that prevents the bad cholesterol from getting into your arteries. For best results, eat 5 medium shrimp 2x per week (grilled, not fried). Also, skip the cocktail sauce.
Red Skin Grapes & Cranberries for Clogged Arteries
Arteries may have fat in them. Red skin grapes and cranberries function as a strainer by taking fat out of the blood vessels and dumping it into cells. With exercise, the cells then burn it away. Eat 1cup of grapes per day 3 x per week or 3 glasses of cranberry juice per week.
