Hi! I have suggestions for Gastritis sufferers . Licorice capsule and Apple cider vinegar capsule. I took apple cider vinegar capsule for one year and it was really great and its also good for weight loss and detox. Then I learned about Licorice I take one capsule a day for more than a year now I feel a lot better I just take it when needed. For me peppers and carbonated drinks make it worst, You still have to avoid certain foods, spicy foods. I can still eat certain mild spicy foods and take Licorice everyday. Always check with your Doctor if you are taking medications before taking Licorice or any herbal supplements. Take care of yourself.

After suffering for over a year and taking the popular meds for the condition, I researched online and found Siberian Tiger 100% Pine Nut Oil. I stopped the meds and followed the oil directions for about 6 months. Firstly, it relieved the burning immediately and second, it ultimately cured the condition. I can now enjoy those foods and beverages I had given up. I still take it occasionally as a preventative. It works.

I find that a few foods can actually help improve a flare up – avocados and bananas. Also, I take a probiotic, Align, and that also seems to help. Staying away from alcohol and hot drinks also helps the healing.

Hi I have suffered on and off with gatritis. I have recently read that tumeric will fight the dreaded H.Pylori and heal gastritis. I found a multi vitamin with tumeric in it and have taken three tables and feel 80% better in this time. I also had a curry and put extra tumeric on the curry – which you can’t taste. I’m hoping this will clear it up and keep it away

I found staying off gluten foods eased my stomach with gastritis. Having gluten free had helped my gastritis A LOT!! Eating bananas, spinach leaves and lighter meals through the day. I heard coconut water helps heal the stomach also.

After a year of not suffering with gastritis, I have had another bout of it. What I didn’t know is that taking high doses of calcium can start up gastritis. I had been taking calcium in powder form for the last couple of months, which seems to have caused the onset. Am still struggling with it, but am better since I stopped the heavy calcium intake.

  10. John Simms says

Do not take vinegar in any form for gastritis! Vinegar is very acidic. It will aggravate your gastritis big time!

I’m just starting the 4 R Program and its already making a difference:

What I’m taking now (just started the program):

1)Glutagenics by Metagenics will rebuild your stomach lining with L-glutamine, DGL (licorice) and Aloe. I’m doing 18 teaspoons a day (which is about 62 grams of L-glutamine) but my stomach is very inflamed right now so consult with your functional medicine/integrative medicine/nutritionist doctor (they can go by many different names) about dosing.
2)UltraInflamX360Plus by Metagenics – medical food shakes i take 2-3 times a day specifically for gut health/repair
3)A very high quality probiotic by Xymogen called ProbioMax DF.
    4) An elimination diet

    – All this is under the care of a Functional Medicine Doctor, who will tell you what dosing they feel is appropriate and which supplements, but bring up these ones specifically. Glutagenics is top of the line. The more you take the better it will work and there is no overdosing. (but just speak with them about this)

To find a functional medicine doctor near you, i found mine here:

    or you could try:

Call them first, bring up the 4 R program and see if they are familiar with it. That is essential.

I used ACV to cure my Gastritis by mixing it in room temp water every morning. 1 month before i went to the hospitoal and the Dr told me that i had severe gastritis. They percribed me 80mg or omeperzole. when i took it it not only made me feel worst but after the first week i was feeling the same and they gave me a $200 perscription of the over counter stuff 6 moth supply. I felt aweful so i stop and i had bad reaction stopping it as well the pain came back. So i read that apple cider vinager was a natural treatment. I went to Smiths and bought a bottle of Braggs Organic ACV. (ACV) apple cider vinager. besides the taste it was making me feel much better. its like my body found its balace again. once i found out all the benefits of drinking it every morning i never stop. I do now and then and did for a couple weeks after i felt better there was no side effects and i was cured. try it if you get i. i think i got my gastritis from stress, alchoal and spicy food.

I agree with John about apple cider vinegar. I tried it for only 3 mornings and my gastritis is 10x worse. I’m in agony. I did 1 tsp, 1 tbsp then back down to 1 tsp. It may work for some individuals but sadly not for me. I’m in so much pain right now I’m actually scared I did some serious damage. I do take Prevacid twice daily and I have carafate I can take up to 4x daily as needed. Most times the carafate does the trick for me but it’s not worked yet. I did get some relief taking some Maslow as well yesterday but I try not to take that too often.

I have been suffering from gastritis since 2011, I saw a dietician and she recommended a soft food diet for 6 weeks, I also had to add finely grated raw carrotts and finely grated raw beetroot, I have also learnt what triggers it off, caffeine products including chocolate an roughage, after six off being on this diet, I have been almost completely symptom free, I never take the prescription pills any more, and also drink at least one litre of water daily. Its worth a try.
