Dr Oz: How To Lower Your Blood Pressure Without Medicine
For this segment, Dr Oz brought up an audience member, who stated that high blood pressure ran in her family. Her mom and grandmother had died of heart attacks and she had been on blood pressure medication for the last 10 years. She stated that her doctor said she could get off the medication if she lost weight. (She didn’t s see that one coming?)
Dr Oz: Lower Blood Pressure Naturally
To demonstrate this, Dr Oz had the audience member wear a tag labeled, “heart”. She was to push a large circle labeled, “blood vessel” down a long, winding path (the artery walls). She pushed the circle down the long winding path. Because there was ample space, this was simple to do.
The next pathway was more compact because the artery walls were harder and closer together. (This is what happens when you have hypertension). The audience member tried to push the circle (blood vessel) down the path, but it got stuck and was several times harder to push. This demonstrated the stiffened heart, which occurred because the heart was unable to relax because it had to work extra hard every day. (Boy, that feeling sounds familiar.)
