Dr Oz: Polycystic Kidney Disease

Dr Oz said that you can’t see it or feel it, but 1 in 9 of us suffer from Kidney Disease.  Millions of Americans are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for this problem.  Doctor Oz asked his Assistant-Of-The-Day, Stephanie from seat 9, if she knew where her kidneys are located?  She almost got it right, but it is located in the back of you.

Dr Oz: Hypertensive Kidney

Dr Oz showed Stephanie what a real kidney looks like.  The role of your kidney is to get ridDr Oz Kidney Disease of waste and excess fluid from your body.  A normal kidney has firm tissue on the outside and a complex structure of circles on the inside that connect to your bladder.  When you have a Hypertensive Kidney, you lose the intricate interior structure.

Another Kidney Problem is Polycystic Kidney Disease, which is a genetic problem that replaces your kidney with lots of cysts.  If you fall into one or more of these categories, then you have a higher risk of having Polycystic Kidney Disease:

1.  If you are African American

2.  If you are Hispanic

3.  If you are Native American

4.  If  you have a family history of Kidney Failure

5.  If you have high blood pressure

6.  If you have a high blood sugar level (you want a fasting blood sugar of level of 70-100)

Dr Oz: How To Prevent Kidney Disease

Dr Oz said that your kidneys filter out fluids and toxins, but if you have things like Diabetes for example, then your kidneys cannot do their job as well.  Often this can lead to your body swelling from excess fluid or a feeling of being tired, weak and worn out.  Doctor Oz said that new studies have found that doctors often miss kidney problems if they don’t check your urine as well as doing a blood test.

Dr Oz gave the following tips to prevent kidney problems:

1.  Eat healthy and get lots of potassium such as apricots and carrots.  If you have blood sugar problems, try to lose just 10 pounds, because that alone can help a lot.

2.  Flush out your system by drinking enough water.

  1. I’m 63 and just found out that I have kidney cysts. Swollen abdomen, back pain. kidney infection, excessive urination at night, headache. They found it in MRI test for my back, I just had a ultrasound to day 4/4/14. I know i have one but I don’t know the size or if there more. Can you tell me if there any herbs I can take to help shrink them? I read detoxing is a start but what else can i do? Alma
