Dr Oz: Lose 20 Pounds in 8 Weeks
Dr Oz did a segment on how to lose 20 Pounds in 8 Weeks with diet shortcuts! This diet plan is not quite as comprehensive at Doctor Oz’s Just 10 Pounds Plan (click here to read about that: Just 10 Pounds), but I always love Dr Oz’s diet segments because they give me a little extra push towards my weight loss goals!
Dr Oz: 8 Week Diet
Weight loss does not have to be complicated – just break it down and make it simple. Two-thirds of us are overweight, and many of us are ready to do something about this. We all know that extra weight is bad for our health, but it never seems easy. Dr Michael Roizen told Dr Oz that the hardest part about losing weight is the emotional aspect. When you eat a cookie, you feel guilty and you have shame when you admit to someone that the cookie was your downfall. But small changes can make a big diffrence.
Dr Oz was joined by 20 women who want to lose 20 pounds. When you are overweight, you are hurting at least 20 of your organs including your brain (because you have an increased risk of having a Stroke), your heart (because you have an increased risk of Cardiac Failure), your breast, and your trachea. In addition, you increase your risk of having Gallstones, Asthma, Osteo-Arthritis, Kidney Disease, Cancer, Congestive Heart Failure, Gerd and even Alzheimers Disease. Dr Oz and Dr Roizen wrote a book called You Losing Weight, which has 99 easy tips for weight loss and diets. Here are their tips for how to lose 20 pounds in 8 weeks:
Dr Oz: Draft A Team
You need someone to block you when you want to eat a piece of cake or french fries, and you also need someone to cheer you on as you do a great job and lose weight. One of the best ways to lose weight is by forming a support system. I have always found that losing weight together with my husband or a close friend has made both of us more successful.
Dr Oz: Plan Your Plate
You also want to make sure that you are eating the right things to help you lose weight. Each plate of food that you eat should be filled with half produce or colorful vegetables, one quarter with a lean protein like fish or chicken and the last quarter should be for whole grains.
Dr Oz: Fool Your Stomach Into Feeling Full
Try eating a little bit of fat, like 12 almonds, around 25 minutes before you eat a meal. This will trick your body into thinking that it is full, and you are more likely to not overeat during your meal. Dr Oz has also mentioned in the past that eating fiber, like an apple, a little bit before a meal will fill you up so that you eat less (click here to read that recap: Dr Oz Best Shortcuts to Lose Weight).
Dr Oz: Take a YOU-Turn
Everyone is human and makes mistakes from time to time. It is ok if you fall off of the diet-wagon momentarily, just make sure to get back on the diet by making a YOU-Turn.
Dr Oz: Reward Yourself
It is hard work to lose weight, so make sure to reward yourself for doing a good job. You can treat yourself to new workout clothes which will excite you about going to the gym next. Or you can treat yourself to a massage. You can even just give yourself a massage at home by using a foam tube. Lay down on the ground with your hip on the foam tube, and rock your body in an up-and-down motion.
Dr Oz: Walgreens Walk Website
Doctor Oz’s final tip was to just Keep Moving. You should try to walk 30 minutes every day. Walgreens has a new resource that allows you to jorunal about your walks, get tips and advice on walks, and even to get support and build teams. Just by registering, you will earn rewards and Walgreens Coupons. So you will have yet another incentive to start walking and moving!
