Dr Oz: Everyday Energy Boosters
Are you tired, sluggish and totally wiped out? Looking for ways to supercharge your energy? On today’s show, Doctor Oz showed you how to do just that! He gave you 5 simple ways to kick-start your day to re-energize your life with things like Moringa Oleifera, Spirulina Energy Cubes, Raw Honey Crystals, Date Sugar, Black Strap Molasses and Heart Health Sweetener.
Dr Oz hit the streets and went to a coffee shop. He surprised patrons by taking their order. (Of course he also told you that you didn’t need French toast, bacon and home fries for breakfast too!) He asked several patrons what they believed their energy levels were on any given day and answers varied between 5-8. When asked what they did to keep their energy levels up, most told Dr Oz that they drank plenty of coffee. One woman told Dr Oz that she had 4 cups of coffee in the morning and then crashed by mid-afternoon. Doctor Oz then asked what zapped their energy the most. One woman answered stress, oh, and her daughter too! She told Dr Oz that her lowest energy level was in the evening, after work. Dr Oz gave them (and you) 5 ways to help kick-start your day.
Dr Oz: Spirulina Energy Cubes
Pria, an audience member, told Dr Oz that she took naps and vitamins to help boost her energy but it didn’t work. By the end of the day, she was beat! To help boost energy, try Dr Oz’s Energy Cubes made from Spirulina, which is a blue/green algae. (Algae? Gee sounds delish so far!)
Take 1 tsp of Spirulina and mix with 12 oz of limejuice. Freeze in ice tray. Add 2 Spirulina ice cubes to 8 oz glass of water and enjoy.
Dr Oz: Moringa Extract
Moringa Oleifera comes from the Himalayas and has been used for many centuries. The leaves of this plant have 3x more iron than spinach, plus, it contains antioxidants. Take 400 mg per day or drink as a morning tea. The best part is that you will not get the downer from the caffeine.
Dr Oz Deep Breath Blast Belt
Crystal, an audience member, told Dr Oz that her energy level goes up and down all day. It’s at its lowest in the morning when she woke up and sometimes she just went back to sleep and didn’t get up until noon. (I’m guessing she doesn’t have a job!)
Dr Oz says in order to get more energy, you need to get the air from bottom of lungs to move. When you take a deep breath through your chest, you’re not moving the lungs. You need the diaphragm to move. Try placing a belt on, under your breast (women) or under the nipples (men). Be sure the belt is on tightly. Place your right hand under your belly button. Take 10 deep breaths every morning. (4 secs in and 4 secs out). You should be pulling the belly button toward the spine with each deep breath.
Dr Oz’s Energy Saver Survival Kit
Keep an energy booster survival kit like you would a first-aid kit. Place dark chocolate with peppermint oil, Trident Vitality gum and Origins moisturizer into a baggie and keep it in your purse. Dark chocolate infused with peppermint oil is Dr Oz’s secret weapon to fight exhaustion. It contains flavonoids, which are a great fatigue buster.
Trident Vitality Gum Review
If you’re not a big tea drinker, try carrying around some Trident Vitality gum. This gum contains ginseng, which is a natural stimulant that helps to keep energy levels up.
Origins Moisturizer Review
Origins moisturizer is a great quick and easy pick-me-up that contains Cordyceps mushrooms. Whenever you feel your energy being zapped away, grab this moisturizer out of your little emergency energy boosting baggie.
Dr Oz’s Power Down Pressure Point
You can do this at the end of every single day, and guess what? It’s FREE! To do the Power Down Pressure Point move, turn off electronic distractions. Place your finger on your brow bone (right between the eyes) and rub for a few minutes. Do a few minutes before you go to bed and you’ll be ready to go the next morning.
Doctor Oz also discussed 4 ways to re-energize by sweetening your coffee or tea without packing on the pounds.
Dark Chocolate Sweetener
Looking for a delicious way to boost your energy? Try adding a piece of dark chocolate into your hot coffee or tea. Dark chocolate contains flavonoids to give you that boost of energy to get you going in the mornings.
Dr Oz: Black Strap Molasses
Black strap molasses is that sweet pick-me-up that is actually good for you. It contains iron, that will give you a boost of energy and provides more iron with less calories. And it’s also fat-free. (Can’t beat that!)
Dr Oz: Date Sugar
Date Sugar is a good source of fiber, which will boost your energy, plus it doesn’t have the calories of regular sugar. Date sugar is made by grinding up dates, so it provides healthy vitamins and minerals as well. It’s natural and not processed like regular sugar.
Dr Oz: Raw Honey Crystals
If you’re an iced coffee or iced tea drinker, instead of dropping in spoonfuls of sugar, try raw honey crystals. These sugar substitutes are lower on the glycemic index than regular sugar, so you won’t feel that sweet craving after eating.
