Dr Oz: Omron Blood Pressure Monitor $10 Coupon

On today’s show, Doctor Oz was joined by Suzette, an audience member, who stated that high blood pressure was a concern of hers.  So what did Dr Oz do?  He made sure to give all of us a $10 coupon to buy our own Omron Blood Pressure Monitor!  Suzette’s father has high blood pressure too and it runs in her family. When Dr Oz asked if she knew her blood pressure numbers, Suzette told Dr Oz that the last time she got it checked, it was 137/92, which Dr Oz described as “borderline.” Suzette told Dr Oz that the reason she probably had high blood pressure was because of stress and poor diet.

Dr Oz explained high blood pressure in more detail,

stating plaque is built up over the years, however, the plaque leaves enough room for blood vessels to pass through. With high blood pressure, over time, the plague gets larger and larger and clogs the arteries so that the blood vessels can no longer pass through.

Dr Oz had Suzette put on the purple gloves and he showed her the kidney, which Dr Oz says is the organ that takes the biggest hit when you have high blood pressure. The normal kidney is about the size of a fist. Dr Oz then showed a kidney that was damaged by high blood pressure and it was shriveled up and sick looking.

-maintain weight-do this by eating a healthy diet and exercising.

-monitor yourself at home- Dr Oz says monitoring yourself at home is just as good (if not better) than the doctor’s office because you can do it at different times of the day, when your blood pressure may fluctuate.

Dr Oz demonstrate the test on Suzette with the Omron at-home device. He was surprised to see her blood pressure at 177/108, which is considered dangerous. (A far cry from the number she gave him earlier.) Dr Oz suggested that Suzette take her blood pressure 2 more times and if it stays at that number, she should see her doctor.

  1. It’s a lie. Cannot find stupid coupon at doctor oz website. Either not there or they are hiding it. Once again, stuff supposed to be at doctor oz website is either not there or not easy to find. Soooo tired of hearing ‘it’s on the website’. Bad, bad website if that’s true. Anything you say up front on the show should be v obvious on home page when visit website.
