Dr. Oz checked up on Samantha who was profoundly addicted to crystal methamphetamine (or crystal meth). She went to an inpatient treatment program with Bradd Lamm, author of How to Change Someone You Love: Four Steps to Help You Help Them, at the Caron Treatment Center. Samantha said that recovery is a whole lot better than relapse, but that she didn’t know if she would have a relapse or not. Now though, she has been clean for 107 days, after being addicted to crystal meth for 12 years. She said the first 24 hours of being without it is like being in the dark, but that it really helps to be taken out of the element that you are usually in.
At one point during Samantha’s treatment, she spoke to her husband about coming to see her and coming with her sons for family therapy. When he said no, she was very hurt and angry, she hung up the phone on him and was ready to walk back to Florida. Samantha said it was very depressing to go through the treatment, but especially without her husband. Furthermore, the whole family needs therapy so that they can all get well together.
