Dr Oz: Solta Dual Laser & Sun Damage Laser Treatment: Mathew Avram

Dr Oz’s The Fix Plastic Surgery segment continued with a revolutionary laser that drastically reduces your risk of getting Skin Cancer and takes away years of sun damage to make you look younger.  Dr Mathew Avram demonstrated the Solta Dual Laser for Sun Damage on Shelley – a lady who was an athlete and loved outdoor sports.  She is 49 years old and in great shape, but her face looks 10 years older than her body.  Shelley said that her mistake was that she always wore sunscreen, but she never reapplied it.  She was diagnosed with Skin Cancer on her lip less than a year ago and is worried she will get more Skin Cancer over time – plus she hates the wrinkles around her eyes, forehead and lips.

Dr Oz: Sun Damage Laser Treatment

Dr Mathew Avram said that the Solta Dual Laser, a Sun Damage Laser Treatment, can clean up Dr Oz Sun Damage Treatmentdiscoloration and is FDA approved to help remove pre-cancerous skin problems.  The Solta Dual Laser was perfect for Shelley since she had two concerns – a cosmetic concern about her face looking old but also a medical concern about Skin Cancer.

Dr Oz: Solta Dual Laser for Sun Damage

Dr Avram did Shelley’s treatment just one week ago.  He first applied a topical anesthetic and then applied the Solta Dual Laser to her face several times.  She finished the procedure by applying ice packs for about 10 minutes and then she headed home.  The results were amazing!  Shelley said that she feels so much better about herself when she looks in the mirror now.  The cosmetic aspect is important, but the cancer risk she is avoiding now is truly priceless.  Dr Mathew Avram said that the ideal patient has significant sun damage and the downtime is not too great but you will have redness and swelling for a while.  The Solta Dual Laser costs $1000 – $1500 and is a 10 minute procedure.  But like Dr Oz said, the money definitely seems well spent on this Sun Damage Treatment!

To find a physician near you that treats with the Fraxel DUAL, please visit http://www.fraxel.com/find-a-doctor-fraxel/ and search by your zip code and check the re:store with DUAL treatment modes box and you’ll get a list of doctors that you can call for a consultation. Please be sure to specify that you want the DUAL treatment so you can get the same benefits as the patient you saw on Dr. Oz.

THis is ridiculous–everybody here has a question qabout the laser surgery yet nobody can answer –

  28. says

Hello everybody! I have been trying very hard to figure out where there are doctors who do these treatments and use the Solta Dual Laser. So far I have not had any luck, but I will keep trying! In the meantime, if anyone else finds an answer, please share it with everyone.

  29. says

Hi Everybody. My name is Mikayla Wilson and I own Beautiful Laser Center in Galveston, Tx. The Solta dual is old technology, they bought out Fraxel . The Solta Dual was out before the fractional CO2 and it makes two passes over the skin (simultaneously) – once with the 1927 and then with the 1550. The 10,600 (C02 Laser) goes deeper and provides a better treatment. We are offering full face and neck fractional resurfacing at Beautiful Laser for the unbeatable price of $899. I will give an extra $100 off to anyone answering this post. Please call me if you have any questions, I am glad to help. My cell number is 409-454-9502.

Does anyone know if the Fraxel RE:Store with dual treatment modes is the same or if not is it as effective as the Solta Dual laser method?

Tana, fractional resurfacing works fabulously on Melasma. You should be able to just google fractional resurfacing in your area to find a medispa or doctor who performs this procedure…or catch a cheap plane to Galveston Island and take advantage of my discount! 🙂 blessings, mikayla Wilson of Beautiful Laser Center

Is the Solta Dual Laser the same as: “Fraxel re:pair® and re:store with DUAL treatment modes?”
I have found a couple of doctors in the Dallas/Plano, Texas area that provide this treatment and just need to know if it is one and the same treatment as the one performed on Dr. Oz Show by Dr. Avram. If not, please also provide doctors in the Dallas/Plano, Texas area that do the same procedure that Dr. Avram did.

If the “Fraxel re:pair® and re:store with DUAL treatment modes ” is the same as the Solta Dual Laser, I looked on Fraxel.com and found these doctors in Dallas.

Dr. Oz, I look forward to your reply (asap please).

Hello everyone! I am not sure if you missed the response that seems to come from Fraxel (the company) below, but I will re-post it here. You can use their link to find doctors in your area or you can call their phone number for more information. For anyone looking for Dr Oz to reply, unfortunately I doubt that will happen. wellbuzz.com is the biggest Dr Oz Fan Website, but we are not affiliated or associated with Dr Oz. Hope that clears things up for everyone!

the procedure is Solta dual laser–same thing as fraxel? fraxel is times more expensive than the solta procedure–solta on dr oz was said to be 1000 to 1500 dollars

MY QUESTION and everyone elses should be…

If this is a preventative measure from getting skin cancer – one of the most deadly cancers –
then why the heck is it considered cosmetic, and not covered by insurance!!

  42. Bonnie says

it isnt covered by insurance because it is not just soley for skin cancer–it is to get rid of sun damage hence cosmetic-skin cancer is NOT the most deadly-nowadays skin cancer is more treatable than ANY cancer-lung cancer is the deadliest-i want this procedure to LOOK better-though this site, nor Dr Oz’s site will tell where a doctor is located and not even worth the time to ASK anymore-ive given up at this point -cant find any docs where i live(San Diego)

  43. says

Bonnie, here is an article comparing the new Fraxel re:store Dual and the older Fraxel re:store: http://www.drpersky.com/dual-fraxel-laser-frequently-asked-questions-michael-a-persky-md-facs-encino-cal/

My question is whether or not the Solta Dual and the Fraxel re:store Dual are the same thing – and this I cannot tell you because I am not a doctor or a specialist in this area.

I would try calling the doctor below (who is in San Diego and seems to have both the Fraxel Dual and the older Fraxel re:store) to see if they can help explain the differences between these options and the Solta Dual Laser.

  45. Jane says

Well, I decided that the best place to go was to the doc on the show as he obviously had the laser equipment and had shown good results. I am 50 and wanted to refresh my look and rid myself of the constant pre-cancerous actinic keratosis removals my mother has faced. We made our appointments, bought our airline tickets, and traveled to Boston to meet with Dr. Avram. We also had to pay a $100 consult fee before they would talk to us regarding the laser.Neither of us were given the Solta Dual laser treatment. We really weren’t told why. I even asked a couple of times, but I still as unclear what the real answer was. I somewhat suspect that the laser was down that week as they must replace the certain parts on a regular basis, but we were not told that for sure. Nevertheless, my mother had some actinic keratosis removed with liquid nitrogen (which she could have done at home) and I had a suspicious mole removed (which I could have done at home).

That said, Dr. Avram is a very nice doctor, and it was a pleasure to meet him. My mother and I had a fun week in Boston, but felt very mislead to have traveled so far to not get the treatment we were seeking. I am still scratching my head as to why……

  46. Pat M says

    Hi
I went to my dermatologist who does the lazer and he said I wasn’t a lazer canidate, but would have good results with Juviderm injections. So try a local doctor and find out what the best treatment for you would be. It might not be lazer.
PS: I’m still debating on whether to get the treatment or not.

  47. says

Hi Jane and Pat…Mikayla Wilson, CLS Beautiful Laser Center in Galveston, TX. You can read my earlier post for more info above. I’m sorry for your experience and my offer still stands — $799 for complete face and neck/fractional resurfacing with C02, which is far superior to the very old technology of solta dual. Feel free to call me with questions 409-454-9502 of look in your area for a medispa that does fractional resurfacing. Blessings, mikayla

I went to Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick in San Diego (La Jolla), he is known internationally for developing some medical lasers including the ultrapulse CO2 laser. I had the fraxel re:pair with great results! 2 years ago. Without ANY pain.
I am still very happy with the results and might have the fraxel dual to get rid of some melasma on my forehead.
He is a very caring and honest doctor.
You can google his name and read more about his credentials. For anybody interested the contact phone # 858-657-1002
I will not go to anyone else, he is a stellar dermatologist.

Mikayla. I am definitely interested in the fantastic offer you mentioned. I live within an hour of Galveston. Is one week definitely enough recovery time? Who does the procedure in your office?

Hi Samantha. A week is enough time to heal. We have several laser specialists at Beautiful Laser Center but I am the C02 Fractional specialist. Feel free to call me tomorrow 409-454-9502 to discuss details/set up an appointment. Also, you can see the results of some of our local clients on our website http://www.BeautifulLaser.com. Before anyone decides to get a laser ‘procedure’ done, please do your research! Many, many, many people have been permanently scarred, burned and had other problems such as necrosis, keratosis, nerve damage, fat loss and other. Maybe check out the forums on RealSelf and IPL and Laser Damage Support before you do anything, PLEASE!!! Once you are disfigured from a laser, there is no going back!
