Doctor Oz did a segment to discuss the big question of Does Soy Cause Breast Cancer & Heart Disease?, to which there was no real conclusion. Dr Oz then followed up with this segment called “Fact or Fiction: Soy Edition” to try and answer some questions regarding the Truth About Soy!

The Truth About Soy

1.  Fact or Fiction: Veggie burgers are healthier than miso soup.

Fiction!  Dr Oz said that miso soup is better for you, especially since the soy is fermented and breaks down easily, making it easy to digest.

2.  Fact or Fiction:  Soybean is the only vegetable that contains more protein than carbohydrate?

Fact!  Dr Oz said that 1 cup of cooked soybeans contains 23 grams of protein.

3.  Fact or Fiction:  Soy milk has more calcium than whole milk?

Fiction!  Dr Oz said that soy milk and whole milk have the same amount of calcium, but whole milk has twice the calories.

4.  How much does America spend on soy each year?

Dr Oz said that America spends $4 billion on soy every year.

The winner of Dr Oz’s quiz won 30 pounds of soybeans… I wonder how in the world she will use all of those up before they go bad!
