Dr Oz did a segment on what to use to Weatherproof Your Body. In the winter, we change our wardrobes to protect against the wind, cold, and snow. However, we also need to think about changing the products that we use to protect our skin, hair, and lips. Are you using Kaolin Cleansers, Shea Butter Lip Balm, and Creamy Shampoos this winter? Doctor Oz gave us three great tips for looking great in the winter!
Dr Oz: Kaolin Cleansers vs Lye Soap
Dr Oz asked which cleanser ingredient will weatherproof your hands? Is it cleansers with lye (which are commonly found in soaps) or is it cleansers with Kaolin (which is a fine clay). The correct answer is to use a Kaolin Cleanser in the winter because Kaolin is a natural ingredient that disinfects and heals inflammation caused by the harsh elements outside. Lye found in soap tends to strip away oil from your skin.
Dr Oz: Shea Butter Lip Balm
Dr Oz asked which balm will weatherproof dry, chapped lips? Shea Butter Lip Balm? Or Petroleum Jelly? Dr Oz said that Shea Butter Lip Balms are better because they actually lubricate, whereas Petroleum Jelly Lip Balms protects but does not get absorbed by your skin.
Dr Oz: Creamy Shampoo vs Clear Shampoo
Dr Oz’s final question was which shampoo will weatherproof your dry hair? Clear Shampoo or Creamy Shampoo? The answer is that Creamy Shampoo is less harsh and often contains Panthenol that helps to moisturize hair. Whereas Clear Shampoos tend to have Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate which strips hair of its natural oils.
