Doctor Oz and Dr. Dean Ornish, author of The Spectrum: A Scientifically Proven Program to Feel Better, Live Longer, Lose Weight, and Gain Health and Dr. Dean Ornish’s Program for Reversing Heart Disease plus both the Founder and President of the Preventive Medicine Research Institute, has discovered that we can reverse our heart disease with a simple 4 step plan that includes your diet, exercise, stress control plus lots of support and love. In 1967 was the first bypass heart surgery, in 1977 angioplasty was discovered so that blockages in your heart could be cleared with a less invasive procedure and in 1987 heart stents were developed which are mesh tubes to help keep your arteries open. But did you know that if you put the right stuff into your body, you can wash away the deadly plaque that builds in your arteries? It can take decades to build up the plaque, but it is a miracle how quickly our bodies can heal themselves! Do you or your friends or family have heart disease, but it isn’t so severe that you need bypass surgery, stent placement or angioplasty? Then definitely read and follow this plan – and send it to your friends and family – we could save more lives this way!
Dr. Ornish says that sometimes you need a “pound of cure” more than an “ounce of prevention,” and this is what Dr. Ornish’s plan is all about. In 28 days on Dr. Ornish’s plan, you can reverse your heart disease!
Reverse Heart Disease – Dr. Dean Ornish’s 28 Day Plan
1. Get Plaque Out of Your Arteries
You want to remove fats from your diet in what is called the Reversal Diet. You should aim for a diet that is 10% fat, 15-20% protein, and 70-75% complex carbohydrates. Once you stop bombarding your system with too much fat, it can start to heal itself. Fatty foods block your arteries and help cause heart disease. Some great ideas for a heart healthy diet (plus an anti-cancer and anti-aging diet) are to eat lots of fruits, vegetables, legumes, soy and whole grains… everything natural and nothing refined of course. Here is an example of Dr. Dean Ornish’s Life Saving One Month Food Diet Plan!
2. Reduce Inflammation of the Artery Walls
You should start with at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, because it will help to keep your arteries healthy and prevent your arteries from rupturing. If you can’t make it to the gym, you can split up the 30 minutes into different mini-workouts. Walk more by parking your car further away, play outside with your children, take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc. Dr. Oz also would like us to break a sweat at least one hour a week.
3. Stop Heart Spasms & Make Arteries More Elastic
By doing an hour of prayer, meditation or yoga, you will calm yourself and reduce your stress, which helps to relax your arteries and prevent blockages and buildups in your arteries.
4. Open Your Heart
Love and support are very helpful at overcoming anything – and heart disease is no exception. Dr. Ornish did a study where he took a survey of hundreds of people and found that people who are loved and supported are not as likely to get sick or die prematurely, compare to people who feel depressed or all alone in the world. Thank you so much to everyone who has contacted us about joining a support group for weight loss and health on our website, and we are still working on forming these support groups – so please leave a comment below if you are interested or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
