That is the question Dr. Oz is answering and he asked for a little help from pharmacist Suzy Cohen to explain what expiration dates on medicines really mean.

Pharmacist Suzy Cohen says expiration dates on medications are simply a “guide” to tell us when they will become less effective or potentially dangerous to take. She says manufacturers put dates on drugs to guarantee up to 90% potency, but reaching the date on the package does not mean you can not longer use the medication.
