Dr Oz: The Real Housewives of OC

You’ve waited and waited (or maybe not) and they’re finally here! Alexis, Tamra, Heather, Gretchen and Vicki from the Real Housewives of Orange County joined Doctor Oz and gave the deets on all their plastic surgeries. (Oh, you know you’ve been waiting for this one!)

Dr Oz The Real Housewives of Orange County Plastic Surgery

Dr Oz spoke with The Real Housewives of Orange County about their plastic surgeries including breast implants, rhinoplasty and tummy tucks.

They’re no strangers to controversy. Bravo’s, The Real Housewives of the OC has stirred up action for years. Today, Dr Oz went behind the scenes and spoke to Alexis, Tamra, Heather, Gretchen and Vicki to find out revealing information on their plastic surgeries.

The Real Housewives Plastic Surgery Confessions

The women admitted that, like other women, they had the same insecurities, but the difference was that their insecurities were broadcasted to the world. (By choice, I may add!) Alexis admitted to having breast implants and getting rhinoplasty soon. (They showed a segment of the show where Alexis told the other girls she was getting “sinus surgery”-alrighty then!)

Tamra admitted to having 3 plastic surgeries. One of those was to remove her breast implants. She felt she was no longer insecure and didn’t need them. (Has she seen herself on the show?)

Heather, Gretchen and Vicki have decided that they weren’t admitting to having any plastic surgery done. (Like, we needed them to actually admit it.)

The women told Dr Oz that they came forward today because they want to come clean and be honest with their plastic surgery. (And it had absolutely nothing to do with more publicity, right?) The women believed that they should own what they’ve done regarding plastic surgery. (That’s with the exception of Heather, Gretchen and Vicki, whom decided to keep mum on the subject.)

The Real Housewives Breast Implants & Tummy Tucks

Tamra told Dr Oz that she’s had her boobs done 3 times. Others state they’ve had tummy tucks due to loose skin because of C-sections. (When Doctor Oz asked who had the most plastic surgery done, no one wanted to claim that title.) When asked for a rough estimate on how much they spent on plastic surgery, no one had an answer for that either. (So much for coming clean today!)

Dr Oz: Tamra Cervical Cancer

Tamra told Doctor Oz that she noticed lumps in her breast and went to the doctor. During that time, she found out she had cervical cancer. (This was in conjunction with the lumps in her breasts.) When she was told she had cancer, she panicked. At that point, she wanted to finally be in control of her body, so she had her implants removed. It was a scary time for her, she was in the midst of a divorce and she wanted to be healthy for her children. The good news is that she’s had a successful procedure done to remove the cancer, however, now she has to go back every 6 months for a checkup.

Doctor Oz asked why didn’t she discuss this on the show since they basically talked about everything else. Tamra said she didn’t want to talk about it at the time because it was too new. She felt if she didn’t talk about it, it wouldn’t come back. Most of the women agreed that the cameras didn’t need to know everything. Because of the health scare, Tamra admitted to being afraid of getting botox. She thinks more about the health of her body now and didn’t want foreign objects inside of her.

The Real Housewives of the OC Plastic Surgery Regrets

When Doctor Oz asked if any of the women had regrets, most raised their hands, but they said they didn’t dwell on it. They looked at it as a positive experience and wanted to be a role model. (Wait, what?) Tamra said that part of the problem was that girls decided on plastic surgery at a young age without realizing the repercussions until they got older. The other positive aspect of the show (according to them) is that they go to board certified surgeons and not to fly-by-night doctors who don’t know what they’re doing.

Gretchen told Dr Oz that she has never had plastic surgery (even though it’s on record that the other women don’t necessarily believe that!) and doesn’t plan to. She’s even received letters thanking her for that.

Plastic Surgeon, Terry Dubrow’s, Views

Dr. Terry Dubrow (married to Heather) joked that a person who has never had plastic surgery in the OC is called a pre-op. Dr. Dubrow felt his wife, Heather, didn’t need plastic surgery. (Doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of being married to a plastic surgeon—free surgeries?) He then admitted that she did have a little loose skin around abs, but other than THAT, she didn’t need it.

Dr Oz Plastic Surgery

Dr. Dubrow told Doctor Oz that he used to believe the opposite. He was the plastic surgeon on that show, The Swan (remember that?), where they would have tons of work done and improperly portray it as something simple, which it really wasn’t. The Swan neglected to show the pain of recovery, which The Real Housewives of the OC does. According to Dr. Dubrow, when you get your breasts done, there is a 100% chance you will need to have a second procedure, 58% of that number is due to complications.

Dr Oz says surveys show age 50 is our happiest year of life. Dr Oz said it’s not about looking 20 at 50, it’s about looking good at 50. (I agree!) This show is important because there are tons of women that feel pressure to look young. That pressure can cause us to do things and cause us to lose our identity. A plastic surgeons knife is not going to fix this.
