Dr Oz played a game called Rub This On That to teach us effective ways to clear up skin problems including Eczema, Mild Burns and how to minimize scars. Doctor Oz said that all of the faux-skin problems on his models were done by Saturday Night Live’s makeup people who are located just one floor up from his show – those makeup people are awesome!
Dr Oz: Honey for Mild Burns
Dr Oz asked which is the best thing to put on your skin to soothe a mild burn? Honey, butter or ice? The answer is honey because it is anti-microbial and helps to reduce inflammation. Ice can cause frost bite and butter can cause infections.
Dr Oz: Shea Butter for Eczema
Dr Oz asked which is the best thing to apply to Eczema? Lavender Oil, Witch Hazel Gel or Shea Butter Cream? The answer is that Shea Butter Cream is the best moisturizer. Dr Oz said that you should apply it as soon as you get out of the shower for the best results. The thing that makes no sense about this solution though is that Eczema is an auto-immune problem which manifests itself on the skin – so moisturizing is generally not the long-term solution from everything that I have read about it.
Dr Oz: Petroleum Jelly Minimizes Scars
Dr Oz asked which minimizes scarring the best after you get a wound? Petroleum jelly, vitamin e cream or cocoa butter cream? The answer is that petroleum jelly works the best to prevent scars. Apply a little petroleum jelly and cover it with a bandage. Dr Oz said that this will save you money and it really works.
