Dr. Oz says that most headaches are entirely preventable, so he is revealing the surprising headache triggers that could be causing your pain and tips to avoid headaches in the future.
Dr Oz: Headache Triggers
Dr. Oz says there are specific things that could be causing your headaches without you even realizing it, so he revealed a few of the biggest pain triggers that could be to blame.
- Smartphone: 70% of us experience digital eye strain from looking at our smartphone screen all day long, so Dr. Oz recommends following the 20/20/20 Rule, which is to look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.
- Pain Killers: Pain medications that are meant to cure your headache pain are often the cause of it. This is known as a Rebound Headache, which occurs when you take too much medication and your body starts to need more of it in order to feel better. Use pain medications less than 3 times per week.
- Cheese: Certain cheeses contain an ingredient that causes headaches, so Dr. Oz recommends avoiding those as much as possible. The more aged the cheese, the more apt it is to cause a headache, so limit the amount of swiss, cheddar and blue cheese you eat. Instead, opt for cottage cheese, ricotta and mozzarella.
