Good Morning America: Team Robin
Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts stunned viewers and colleagues earlier this summer when she revealed that she is suffering from a rare blood disorder. Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) is a condition that leads to bone marrow failure, and it’s actually hard to know how many people are affected because it could go undiagnosed for a long period of time. But there is no denying that Robin Roberts has put a public, identifiable face on this condition that is now gaining awareness. You can support Team Robin and share the love with your family members thanks to the Robin Roberts Prayer for Protection wrist band.
Robin Roberts: Prayer of Protection Wristband
A few weeks ago, as Robin Roberts prepared for her medical leave from Good Morning America, she shared a special gift with her TV family. She gave each of them a Prayer for Protection wristband. These products were created for her and based on a prayer she learned from her mother growing up.
The prayer, originally written by James Dillet Freeman, is as follows:
The Light of God surrounds me. The Love of God enfolds me. The Power of God protects me. The Presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is.
After Robin shared her daily prayer with the GMA audience this spring, those words would take on a new meaning in her life. Following her MDS diagnosis and announcement, a friend designed the colorful Power of Protection bracelets that Robin shared with her GMA team.
The bracelets feature keywords from the prayer: “Light, Love, Power, Presence.” Robin Roberts had her last day on GMA August 30 2012. She will go on medical leave and recieve a bone marrow transplant from her sister. She encouraged others to sign up as potential bone marrow donors who can make a difference in the lives of others. You can offer to be a donor through Be The Match.
