Dr. Oz was asked by Katherine, a 21-year-old who wants a flat tummy for spring break, if a no carb diet really helps you lose weight… because if not, she wants to stop this diet which is very hard for her to keep.
Dr. Oz said he doesn’t mind people doing this kind of diet for a short period to jump start their healthy eating lifestyle, but he prefers a long term lifestyle plan where you eat real whole foods. Before the modern times, people ate complex carbohydrates, just not simple carbohydrates like we eat now. So make sure that you eat 30-40% of your calories in the form of complex carbohydrates like whole grains.
