Dr Oz: Lose Weight With Botox
Dr. Oz and his guests discussed the natural appetite suppressant 5-HTP. They talked about how it can help emotional eaters lose weight and they outlined the buying guidelines and side effects involved with taking 5-HTP so you could decide if it is a good choice for you. Now Dr. Oz has a very different way to curb your appetite and it involves a procedure that you have probably only ever associated with eliminating wrinkles. Prepared to be just as surprise as Dr. Oz was when he first heard about this new way to stop your hunger.
Dr Oz: Botox Stops Hunger
Have you ever considered Botox as a beauty treatment? What about to curb your appetite? Dr. Tony Kalloo from Johns Hopkins Hospital explained that just like you inject Botox into the skin where you have wrinkles, it can be injected into the stomach to suppress your appetite since that is where you feel full. He cautioned that this is an off-label use of Botox, so that is something to be aware of when considering it for yourself.
When injected, the Botox causes the patient’s stomach to slowly stop contracting, which will make them feel full because food is taking longer to digest. Dr. Kalloo said this treatment is best for those who have a minor amount of weight to lose, like 20-30 pounds. He added that it has not been used on obese patients, but for those who have a reasonable amount of weight to lose it is beneficial and they usually see results in 4-6 months.
Dr Oz: Botox Weight Loss Requires Lifestyle Change
Dr. Tony Kalloo explained that just like with any Botox treatment he recommends his patients make other changes to their life in addition to the injection because the Botox will eventually wear off. He always suggests they consult with a nutritionist and work on a fitness plan so they can modify their behavior. The Botox is a great kick start to get you moving in the right direction, but making healthy changes will be beneficial after it wears off.
Dr Oz: Botox Cutting Edge Weight Loss Procedure
Dr. Kalloo stated again that he has seen the most weight loss benefit in patients who had around 20-30 pounds to lose. With Botox being a very new procedure where weight loss is concerned, he said it is not readily available quite yet, but if it is something you are interested in, you should definitely stay tuned and ask your doctor about it in the near future.
