Dr. Oz says one of the best and most healthy ways to fight cancer is through the foods that you eat. He says the more colorful they are, the more nutrients they have to offer. There are many foods that protect you from cancer, but some offer more fighting power against particular ones more than others.
Dr Oz: Tomatoes Fight Against Cancer with Lycopene
This entire group of foods is bright red in color and all are filled with antioxidants. They all have the unique power to fight Ovarian and Pancreatic Cancers. Eat any one of the foods per day to cut your risk for Cancer.
- Tomatoes -Tomatoes have Lycopene, which is very important in fighting against Cancer.
- Berries – Berries are rich in powerful antioxidants to fight Cancer.
- Red Bell Peppers – Red Bell Pepper are high in flavonoids, which aiding in fighting Cancer.
Dr Oz Cancer Fighting Foods: Apricots with Quercetin
This particular group of foods is all orange in color and really high in fiber, which is very important in Cancer prevention. Dr. Robynne Chutkan says they are also high in beta carotene, which is helpful in preventing Cancer. Apricots in particular, also have something called Quercetin, which a powerful antioxidant. The next important group of food is all yellow in color and especially fight against Stomach and Esophageal Cancers. Dr. Chutkan says the Vitamin C found in these foods is a very powerful antioxidant and the flavonoids work to detox your cells. These foods also work hard to strengthen your immune system and some examples include lemons and grapefruit. Add Citrus fruits to diet at least once a day to cut your Cancer risk.
Dr Oz Cancer Fighting Foods: Powerful Green Foods
These green foods all have powerful benefits to help prevent cancer. Dr. Robynne Chutkan says that green foods are probably the most missing food from the American diet and they are also the most important. She says that while the lighter green foods, like cabbage and brussel sprouts cause gas, it is good gas, so don’t let that stop you from eating them.
The darker leafy green foods, like kale and spinach, have something called Folate, which help to prevent cancer. The lighter colored foods have Lutein for preventing cancer. Dr. Oz says that these green foods also work to detoxify our bodies and are the most important ones to be eating; he says to make sure you eat something green twice a day to cut your risk for cancer.
Dr Oz: Vitamin D Mushrooms Fight Cancer
The final group of foods is white, or neutral, in color and they all work to prevent Stomach, Ovarian, and Colon Cancers. Dr. Chutkan says that some white foods offer great benefit to our immune system, like garlic, onions, and mushrooms. Mushrooms are high in Vitamin D, which is important in fighting Ovarian Cancer. Dr. Oz wants you to eat any one of these white foods once a day to cut your cancer risk.

Knowing the risks and warning signs for cancer can truly save your life and a viewer named Lisa wrote to Dr. Oz to thank him for saving her life. She said that she happened to watching his show, another one about the risks and symptoms for Ovarian Cancer and she found herself hearing all of the symptoms she was experiencing. Lisa says she took that information to her doctor and eventually got a diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer. She has gotten treatment and currently doing well. She credits Dr. Oz and all of the important information he shares on his show with saving her life.
