Dr. Oz: Banish Your Bloat
Dr. Oz talked about how to get rid of serious bloating on the show. If you feel so bloated that you’re worried your pants may pop, it may be the bad bacteria growing inside of you.
Tara from the audience joined Dr. Oz. She said she had some serious bloating. She had her Spanx on, but she said when she took them off at night she knew it’d pop out. She said it’s the worst at night.
Dr. Oz: Get Rid of Gluten, Dairy & Sugar
Kathie Swift is a nutritionist and the author of The Swift Diet, and she came by to help out Tara with that bad bacteria. She said the first two weeks of her diet are all about removing what she calls the Big Three: sugar, gluten, and dairy. The reason is because these foods are hard for the body to digest. Tara said bread was the hard one because she loves bread.
Dr. Oz: Eat Fiber, Fats & Protein
Then there’s what you should eat. The key is eating fiber, fats, and protein. The fiber in colorful vegetables and fruits feeds the good bacteria. Healthy fats in nuts, seeds, olives, and avocado helps you feel full longer. Then there’s eggs, fish, and lean poultry and beef.
There’s also wine, which Kathie says you can have up to twice a week if you enjoy some wine. She said you can also keep the cup of coffee in the morning, but Tara said she’d rather have the wine.
Dr. Oz: Eat Fermented Foods
Then it came down to fermented foods. Tara said she knew yogurt was one, but she didn’t like it. There’s also sauerkraut, pickles, and tempeh. Tara had never had tempeh before and she said it wasn’t bad. She said it in a way where you knew she was being polite.
Dr. Oz: Clearing Out The Intestinal Tract
Dr. Oz demonstrated what happens in the system with these foods. If you eat a lot of gluten, sugar, and dairy, the body has trouble breaking down the foods in the belly. Dr. Oz then showed what happens if you eat fermented foods that have probiotics in them naturally. These break down foods much more effectively.
Dr. Oz: Eat Mindfully
Kathy Swift said that people should eat mindfully, to break down stress and be aware of your life. If you incorporate mindful practices into your life, you can really change it around for the better.
