Why a Paleo Diet’s Bad for LPA or Lipo Protein A
Dr. Oz did a show on Bob Harper’s recent heart attack, explained what a Widow’s Maker Heart Attack is, showed how to do CPR and even demonstrated how to use an AED machine. But did you know that even though Bob Harper was lucky and survived his Widow Maker’s Heart Attack, he still has to make dramatic changes to his diet. Who would think that someone as fit and healthy as Bob Harper would need to modify his diet?!?! This will shock you…
Bob Harper’s Paleo Diet Before
Before Bob Harper had his Heart Attack, he ate lots of proteins, lots of vegetables and all of the good fats that we are told to eat. Basically, he was on a Paleo diet. However, Dr. Oz said that if you are a LPA or Lipoprotein(A) individual, the Paleo diet is NOT the way to go. So Bob has been re-introduced into the world of being a Vegetarian, though in a modified way.
Dr Ornish’s Diet for Bob Harper
Dr. Oz connected Bob Harper with Dr. Ornish who has been pushing a mainly vegetarian diet. Bob said that the following are his typical meals everyday:
- Breakfast – egg whites or no-fat greek yogurt with cereal.
- Lunch – tofu and tons of veggies.
- Dinner – fish with vegetables. Though, Bob Harper told Dr. Oz that Dr. Ornish would not be happy to hear that he is even eating fish.
Dr. Oz also encouraged Harper to eat lots of oranges, strawberries and blueberries, since people with LPA or Lipoprotein(A) are generally Vitamin C Deficient as well. In addition, he urged Harper to include more beans and whole grains into his diet. Especially because without those items, he may become constipated. Bob Harper said he ate a delicious quinoa last night at a vegetarian restaurant in New York City. I wonder what restaurant Bob Harper ate it? I’d love to visit!!!
