Dr Oz: Give Your Metabolism A Jump Start
Is your metabolism is desperate need of a jump start? Thankfully, Dr Oz welcomed two women he referred to as “the metabolism power duo,” nutritionist Maya Feller and Dr Aviva Romm. Dr Romm explained that if you’re feeling tired, sluggish, or foggy, aren’t getting good sleep at night, and are gaining weight around your tummy that you can’t seem to lose, they could all be signs of a slowing metabolism. The good news is that there are simple changes you can make and some people even see major results in just a couple weeks!
Maya Feller explained that you need to create a caloric deficit in order to experience weight loss. If you were to try to do that through exercise, you would need about four hours of high intensity exercise on a daily basis which isn’t sustainable. Instead, you should look at the food you’re eating and aim for healthier, plant-based foods.

Dr Oz shared simple and easy tricks to help give your metabolism a boost, so you can watch the pounds melt away. (andrea_nguyen / Flickr)
Dr Oz: Metabolism-Boosting Foods
The first thing you can do is to add a metabolism-boosting spice blend to your morning drink. Add cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric to your morning tea or coffee. All three have been shown to help jump start your metabolism.
It’s also a good idea to turn to foods that have been shown to boost your metabolism. A great midday metabolism booster is a dip made out of Greek yogurt, Sriracha, mustard, horseradish, or wasabi. Plus, the probiotics in the yogurt promote a healthy gut, which also promotes a healthy metabolism. When it comes to salad dressing, just make your own! Take a mason jar and add red pepper flakes, rosemary, thyme, apple cider vinegar, and extra-virgin olive oil.
Dr Oz: Theresa Caputo Health Scare & Celebrity Readings
On a different note, Dr Oz then spoke to the Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo about a recent health scare she experienced. Theresa explained that she went for her annual routine check-up where a lump was found in her breast. Fortunately, it turns out that everything is okay.
Theresa has been spending her time recently reading celebrities like Rosie O’Donnell. She explained that at the end of the day, Rosie was a client who recently lost somebody. Theresa was able to help her connect to her mom. She also spoke to Jim O’Heir from Parks and Recreation who broke down within just a couple minutes of speaking with her.
