Dr Oz: Foam Roller Back Stretches
Do you often have back pain, but are not quite sure where it comes from? If so, today’s Dr. Oz Show is for you because he has the answers you have been waiting for to figure out what causes your back pain and what you can do to make it feel better. He asked for an Assistant of the Day to help him explain it to everyone!
Dr Oz: Epsom Salt Bath for Back Pain
Dr. Oz says the surprising cause of your back pain is usually due to a problem with your Fascia, which often goes missed by doctors because it cannot be seen in an x-ray. Even though you may be feeling like your pain is in your bones and muscles, it is actually much deeper in the Fascia, so Dr. Oz explained what really happens when you have back aches. The fascia basically holds everything together in the body, but when it gets tight due to a lack of exercise and an increase of stress and poor posture, the pain begins. The pain gets worse and worse making it difficult to enjoy life because you are so uncomfortable, but the good news is that it is preventable.
- Take a 15-minute Epsom Salt bath twice a week to relax the muscles around your fascia to ease your pain.
- Stay flexible by stretching with a foam roller. Place the foam roller under your neck and with your knees bent begin to roll yourself up and down, focusing on areas of tenderness.
Dr Oz: Healthy Breakfast Ideas
Dr. Oz says breakfast is his favorite meal of the day, so he asked a few health and fitness experts what they would recommend as healthy options for you to incorporate into your diet.
Many of us are in a hurry in the morning, so grab a handful of almonds or cashews and an apple because they contain good fats and protein that will sustain you much longer than something like a sugary granola bar.
Instead of reaching for a muffin in the morning, try a bowl of steel cut oats with greek yogurt, blueberries and walnuts. They both contain 400 calories, but the second choice will give you energy for the entire day and keep you fuller for longer.
Does a breakfast sandwich made with sausage, egg, and cheese sound like a perfect breakfast to you? If so, you are not alone, but there is a much healthier option Dr. Oz would like you to try. Instead, try making a sandwich at home with scrambled eggs, spinach, and tomatoes all bundled up in a wrap. It will save you over 200 calories and 8 grams of fat!
Dr Oz: Chia Seeds Health Benefits
Dr. Oz’s personal trainer Joel Harper decided to pay Dr. Oz a surprise visit and he even brought along a healthy surprise. Joel says Chia Seeds are rich in Omega-3s, high in fiber, and even contain magnesium, amino acids, and protein, making them a healthy addition to any meal.
