Dr Oz: Daymon Patterson’s Drive Thru Diet
Daymon Patterson’s fast food reviews went viral on YouTube, and they even caught the attention of Dr Oz, who invited him on the show. Daymon Patterson admits that his fast food habit isn’t the healthiest, and he agreed to take Dr Oz up on the challenge of reviewing choices from his Drive Thru Diet.
Dr Oz: Fast Food Challenge
For the fast food challenge, Dr Oz had Daymon try three days’ worth of meals, each under 500 calories. The foods on the menu contained no trans fats and less than 1,000 mg Sodium. Daymon, with his dashboard camera in tow, tried an Egg White and Turkey Sausage on flatbread, Grilled Chicken with corn on the cob and green beans. He didn’t seem that enthusiastic about the meal plan, and admitted to being hungry by day three.
Dr Oz: Drive Thru Diet Challenge
Daymon got real with Dr Oz back in the studio. “Changing the way that I was eating breakfast, lunch, dinner? To be honest with you, I wasn’t ready for it,” he admitted. But he said he was able to find some successful options from the list Dr Oz provided.

Daymon picked his favorite breakfast item, the Egg White with American Cheese Sandwich on 9 Grain Wheat Bread.

- 3 grams saturated fat
“Where’s the rest of my egg?” Daymon wondered. “He’s playing with my emotions.” But once he got past the confusion, it sounds like he really enjoyed the breakfast option. Dr Oz said this was a solid nutritional choice.
Dr Oz: McDonalds Lunch Diet
Daymon’s top lunch choice was the McDonald’s Premium Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken and Apple Slices. He said he threw the apples in his salad to make it more enjoyable; Daymon doesn’t like salad, but I think salad (and greens) gets a bad rap. Dr Oz liked that this was a non-fried option.
- 205 calories
- 3 grams saturated fat
Dr Oz: Boston Market Dinner Diet
For dinner, Daymon chose Boston Market Rotisserie Chicken. It was a quarter white, no skin piece with sweet corn and steamed veggies; Daymon said he had to learn to get on board with steaming.
- 420 calories
- 1 gram saturated fat
Daymon said he thought about playing and being active with his daughters as motivation to continue on the path to healthier fast food.
Dr Oz: Worst Fast Food Meal?
Daymon chose his least favorite meal from the experiment. At Dunkin Donuts, he got that Egg Whites and Turkey Sausage meal on flatbread. He said it was caught in his throat and “didn’t work for me.” He was much more emphatic than one can capture in a recap, as you might imagine based on his YouTube videos.
Dr Oz: Healthy Fast Food
Daymon’s mom and his wife were in the audience, and they have been encouraging him to make healthier food choices. His mother admitted that there is a family history of high cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes. She knows that his risks will increase along with his weight, but this is avoidable.
Daymon got choked up and had to give his mother a hug in the audience. After they wiped away the tears, Dr Oz said that he wanted to help Daymon understand the physical consequences of the meal choices we make each day.
