Dr. Oz: Can You Lose Weight in a Specific Area?
Dr. Oz had a special fitness edition of Fact or Fiction. He talked to celebrity fitness trainer Kathy Kaehler to clear up the questions for everyone. Is it true you can lose weight in a specific area?
It turns out this is fiction. You can’t choose where you want to lose weight. Kathy Kaehler said that one great exercise to get rid of the fat in the body is a jumping jack. Jumping jacks are one of the best exercises because they hit all your muscle groups and they get your heart racing quickly. She said that exercise is culmative, so the important thing is that you do it every day and you do it consistently.
Dr. Oz: Is it True the More You Sweat, the More You Burn?
Is it true the more you sweat, the more you burn? No, this is fiction, too. Kathy said that sweating is not an indicator of how how you’re working out. It’s your body cooling itself out. It’s a biological reaction.
Instead, heart rate is the best indicator of how hard we’re working. Tracking your heart rate will help you keep track of how hard you work.
Dr. Oz: Should You Eat Before Working Out to Burn More Fat?
Michelle in the audience wondered if it’s true that if you eat a little before working out, it helps you burn more fat. This turns out to be a fact. If you work out on an empty stomach, you can burn off muscle as well as fat.
Kathy suggested drinking shakes about 30 minutes before working out. This shake was made from water, protein powder, coconut milk, coconut extract, pineapple, and strawberries. She suggested Usana Nutrimeal Free for the protein powder, because Usana is a trusted partner of The Dr. Oz Show.
