Dr Oz: Quit Sugar Once & For All
If you have tried and failed to quit sugar, Dr Oz may just have the plan that will finally work for you. He welcomed Dr Joel Fuhrman to help his viewers curb their addiction to sugar, without giving up sweet treats. Dr Fuhrman was quoted as saying that removing toxic foods from your diet, such as sugar, makes it “almost impossible to have a heart attack.”
Dr Fuhrman explained that he just published a study in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine on 443 people with high blood pressure. Those people normalized their LDL cholesterol and dropped their blood pressure 26 pounds. “If you eat right, heart disease is not the inevitable consequence of aging,” Dr Fuhrman stated.

Dr Oz then explained that if you quit sugar, once the withdrawal symptoms fade, you will first notice an improvement in your skin. Then, you will continue to lose weight and keep it off. Cutting back just 200 calories of sugar a day, could improve your weight by ten pounds! Plus, your blood pressure will begin to drop and within a few weeks, your LDL cholesterol will improve. Cutting sugar from your diet can reduce your risk of dying from heart-related issues three-fold.
Dr Oz: How To Successfully Give Up Sugar
Dr Oz was thrilled to reveal his Sugar Quitter’s Guide to Life. He turned to three women in the audience who claimed to have tried to quit sugar before, only to fail. The women shared their obstacles, revealing that it was their need for dessert, battles with cravings, and lack of better, healthier options.
If you feel that you just can’t give up dessert, the good news is that you don’t have to! Instead of sugar-loaded treats, be sure your desserts are made of high-fiber natural foods that are full of nutrients. Try desserts using healthier ingredients like dates or mango, vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon, vegetables like sweet potatoes or beets, and berries.
If you’re constantly struggling with severe sugar cravings, it could be a matter of micronutrients. Dr Fuhrman explained that vegetables are the richest source of miconutrients. Try eating 1 double-sized serving of steamed veggies a day. You should also eat at least one ounce of raw nuts and seeds per day for micronutrients and healthy fats.
Finally, Dr Fuhrman argued that everyone should eat three servings of fruit per day. Dr Fuhrman explained that fruits are related to a low risk of heart disease, stroke, and cancer. A lot of people worry about the sugar in fruit, but Dr Fuhrman explained that fruit is so high in fiber, and fiber slows the absorption of glucose into the body.
Dr Oz: Salads & Veggies For Dramatic Weight Loss
Dr Oz then introduced Darcy, a woman who lost 90 pounds following Dr Fuhrman’s plan. What truly allowed her to lose the weight and transform her health, was eating salads and vegetables instead of processed, sugary foods. Dr Oz showed how the standard American diet tends to leave you hungry, while salads and vegetables fill your stomach using far fewer calories. They referred to it as surgery-free gastric bypass because you’re automatically consuming fewer calories.
For breakfast, Darcy would enjoy a gigantic bowl filled with natural food like fruits and veggies, and feel like she was eating a lot, while she was consuming a low amount of calories.
