Dr Oz: Brand New Formula For Weight Loss
Chris Powell joined Dr Oz to explain how you can calculate the number of calories your body can burn in a day. Though most of us underestimate our daily caloric intake, it is easy to take control. Check out Chris’s Jumpstart Meals and how to measure portions using your hand.
Dr Oz Weight Loss Calorie Formula
The formula Powell shared is simple. Just multiply your current weight by 12, and that’s how many calories your body burns in a day. Eat less than that amount to lose weight.
How fast you lose weight and how much you lose is up to you. The lower you go, the more weight you stand to lose. But Chris Powell said women should not go under 1,200 calories, which could cause starvation state.
Dr Oz: Automate Your Meals
But how do you keep track of the calories you are taking in every day? It’s hard to keep track when you are on the go, and that’s why Chris came up with some ways to keep calorie counting easy and fun.
Dr Oz: Jumpstart Meals & Low-Calorie Breakfasts
Dr Oz and Chris teamed up to automate your meals. Within 30 minutes of getting up, you should eat a meal between 200 and 300 calories. Here are some suggested breakfast ideas.
- Hard-boiled egg & Ezekiel Toast
- Cottage Cheese, Celery & Orange
- 1/2 Banana & Almond Butter
- 1/2 Cup Greek Yogurt & 1 tbsp low-fat Granola
- Almond Milk Protein Shake with Apple
Dr Oz: 300 Calorie Meal Measurements
Chris’s advice is to eat every three hours to stabilize blood sugar in the body, which comes with many different health benefits.
You can use your hand as a perfect portion tool. Here’s how it works.
- Protein – Eat a portion the size and thickness of your palm
- Vegetables – Eat a portion size of two clenched fists
- Carbs – Eat a portion the size of one clenched fist
- Fats – Eat a portion the size of your thumb, from the base up
This is an easy reference guide when you are dining out or on the goal. It is also pretty easy to remember.
Dr Oz: 100-Calorie Snacks
Since you are supposed to eat every three hours, you are going to need a lot of snack options. Here are some 100-calorie snack ideas Chris shared with Dr Oz. Just prepare them in advance and portion them in plastic snack bags.
- 1 Apple
- 1 Cheese Stick
- 1 12 cups Fiber Cereal
- 1 1/2 cups Grapes
- 1 1/2 cups Popcorn
- 4 slices Turkey
- 7 dried Apricots
- 14 Almonds
- 20 Baby Carrots
Dr Oz: Splurge On Sundays
Choose Sundays, or any one day of the week, to let yourself indulge. That’s because we know deprivation leads people to cheat on their diets and fall behind their goals. Chris Powell said having a cheat day actually shocks your metabolism and keeps the progress going.
I think this program sounds simple enough that even I could do it. Will you consider trying this plan for weight loss, or do you have something else you think works better?
