Dr Oz: Mindful Monday
As part of his May plan, Dr Oz wants to end each show with a new series meant to help viewers “find their zen in a stressful situation.” He called it Mindful Monday and shared a simple mindful eating trick, also as part of The Monday Dieter. This trick is great for helping you be more aware of what you’re eating so that you not only eat less but do so without dieting.
Dr Oz: Stop Distracted Eating
Because most of us are “distracted diners” meaning we try to multi-task while we eat, we’re not focusing on the food in front of us. That can actually cause us to eat more. Instead, take 20-minutes to actually sit down and focus on what you’re eating. Take those 20 minutes to savor the flavor of your food, eat slower, and turn off all distractions.
Dr Oz: Be More Aware Of What You’re Eating
According to Dr Oz, studies have shown that it takes about 20 minutes from the time you start eating for your brain to register that you’re full. Before you sit down and thoroughly chew each bite, ask yourself the following questions:
- Am I really hungry?
- What am I really eating?
- Will I feel bad later?
Be more aware of what you’re putting in your body. Do you think this practice could make a big difference for you?
