Dr Oz: Eat Less Protein to Lose More Weight
Dr. Oz has covered a lot of diet plans on his show, but today he is waging a “Holy War” on fat! The Daniel Plan was created by a pastor who wanted to heal his congregation and improve their health, along with his own. Today he is here to talk about the weight loss plan that combines mind, body and spirit with Dr. Oz!
Dr Oz: The Daniel Plan – 40 Days to a Healthier Life
Pastor Rick Warren brought together a team of experts to create The Daniel Plan, which is based on the way Daniel from the Bible ate every day. He says he knew he could not do it on his own so he enlisted the help of Dr. Daniel Amen and Dr. Mark Hyman to join forces and create a weight loss program that encompassed a person’s whole body. He says most diet plans only focus on diet and fitness, but there is so much more to it than that, including the mind and the spirit.
Dr Oz: Daniel Plan Meal Ideas
Dr. Mark Hyman says the first thing you need to do if you want to lose weight is banish sugar from your diet. He firmly believes that the overconsumption of sugar is what has led to the obesity problem in our country.
Next, Dr. Hyman believes you need to load up on “clean” carbs, including fruits, vegetables and plant-based foods because they contain the most healing compounds in nature.
Finally, Dr. Hyman says you need to shift the way you eat and turn protein into a side dish, rather than the main course. Protein is essential at every meal to help cut your appetite, speed up your metabolism and help you lose weight, but Dr. Hyman says we need to eat less of the right proteins every day.

Dr Oz: ‘The Dinosaur Syndrome’
Dr. Daniel Amen says there are hundreds of studies that show as a person’s weight goes up, their brain function goes down. He says it is important to take care of your brain because it is the organ we use to make decisions, so when it is damaged we cannot function to the best of our ability. Dr. Amen equates what happens to humans as The Dinosaur Syndrome because dinosaurs had big bodies and small heads (and brains) and they became extinct, which is what will happen to us if we do not take better care of ourselves.
