Dr Oz: The Importance of “Me” Time for Moms
Dr. Gretchen Phillips is a mom to five children and a family doctor who says she and her husband try to run a tight ship to help keep their family as organized as possible. Just like every other family, Dr. Phillips’ is very busy and sometimes she can get a little stressed out, so she shared her favorite way to relax and calm her nerves.
Dr. Phillips says that this is important for all of us to have “Me” time, so every night at 7:30 she gives herself 30 minutes to unwind and relax while sometimes enjoying a glass of wine.
Dr Oz: Exercise Tips for Busy Moms
Dr. Gretchen Phillips says she cannot stress enough how important it is to stay active. She likes to work out alone at lunchtime or after work with her kids. Here are some of the ways she gets in her daily exercise:
- Doing squats while at her desk
- Bike rides with her kids
- Walks with her kids
Dr. Phillips says even if you can only squeeze in 20 minutes a day, it really keeps you going and makes a difference for your health.
Dr Oz: How to Make Hot Dogs Healthy
In addition to exercise, Dr. Gretchen Phillips says she allows her kids to eat something “fun” one day a week because they need the fat and every now and then it is okay to eat something unhealthy. Even though she serves her kids fun foods like hot dogs on occasion, she always makes sure they get a balanced meal so it is not all bad.
