Dr Oz was sharing information about potentially dangerous chemicals in fast food wrappers, even from some of your favorite fast food chains like Starbucks and Chipotle. He wanted to take time to help consumers protect themselves from those chemicals, in a reasonable way. The easiest thing to do would be to bring your own containers with you to the fast food restaurant. But Dr Oz knew no one would really want to do that.

However, it is important to get your food out of the wrappers as soon as possible. Studies have shown that the longer the food is in contact with the chemical-laced paper, the more chemicals can leach into your food. If possible, ask for your food to be packaged in a paper bag or aluminum foil. For items like French fries, go ahead and use the paper cups, because those were shown to not have the dangerous compounds in them.
Because Dr Oz knows fast food is a part of just about everyone’s life, it’s important to know that these chemicals shouldn’t be too much of a problem for you if you’re only eating fast food once a month. However, if you’re eating fast food with those wrappers a couple times a week, it may be worth it to change the way your food is packaged.
