Dr Oz: BPA Infertility Link
Dr. Oz says the everyday foods you eat are filled with chemicals and toxins and they are so bad that experts will not even touch them. Which foods are they? Today Dr. Oz reveals the biggest ones to avoid and which ones to eat instead!
Dr Oz: Non-Organic vs Organic Potatoes Pesticide Levels
Pediatrician Dr. Alan Greene says he has taken care of children for over 20 years and there is one food he hates to see them and their parents eat because it contains some of the highest levels of pesticides of any food available. Dr. Greene says exposing children to pesticides puts them at risk for ADHD as well as developmental delays, which is why he will personally never touch a conventionally grown potato.
Dr. Greene says potatoes are the number one vegetable that kids eat in America and they are not only sprayed with synthetic pesticides before the plant even begins to grow, but they are sprayed again and again and even after they are harvested. He explains that even if you wash and peel them it still will not matter because there are pesticides in the structure of the potato.
Dr. Oz performed his own test and sent non-organic and organic potatoes to a lab for testing and the results were shocking because the non-organic contained 10 times the amount of pesticides as the organic ones. Fortunately, Dr. Greene says you turn things around in just one shopping trip to the grocery store by only choosing organic potatoes from now on.
Dr Oz: How to Avoid BPA in Your Food
Gynecologist Dr. Jennifer Landa says as a women’s health expert she would never buy canned foods because they contain high levels of BPA, which has been linked to reproductive issues in women. Dr. Landa says almost all canned foods contain BPA and BPA concerns her because it interferes with our hormones, causing them not to work properly.
- Look for canned foods that are labeled BPA-Free.
- Look for the same foods in either glass jars or box cartons.
Dr Oz: Artificial Growth Hormones in Milk
Dr. Marleen Meyers has devoted her life to preventing cancer and there one food she will not eat even though it is considered a building block for basic nutrition. Dr. Meyers says dairy products made with artificial hormones have been banned in several countries due to their link to breast cancer, which is why she will never feed them to her family.
Dr. Meyers says most cows in the United States are injected with a hormone called RBGH, which stimulates milk production. The problem is that the RBGH stimulates another hormone called IGF, which has been linked to breast, prostate, and colon cancer. Dr. Oz shared that 40% of milk produced in the United States contains RBGH, which is why Dr. Meyers recommends looking for organic products or those that are labeled hormone-free.
