Dr Oz: Fermented Foods Health Benefits
Dr. Oz says there is a group of superfoods that have been working for centuries to flush toxins and fat from your gut, while boosting your immune system at the same time. Now is time to add fermented foods to your diet!
Dr Oz: Sauerkraut Slaw Recipe
Nutritionist Heidi Skolnik explains that fermented foods have gone through a process that creates good bacteria, which improves our gut health. Depending on your needs, there is a fermented food to fix every intestinal problem you are having and Dr. Oz shared a few to get you started.
- Raw Sauerkraut
- Raw Kimchi
It is critical to purchase these “Raw” or “Lacto-fermented” because those are best for increasing healthy bacteria to heal your gut, so look for them in the refrigerated section of your grocery store.

This dish makes a great side for any meal!
Dr Oz: Kombucha Tea Review
The next fermented food that Dr. Oz recommends is Kombucha Tea, which can be found in the refrigerated section as well and comes in a bottle. Heidi says it is basically a black fermented tea that has an acquired taste and might be challenging for some people to get used to. She explains that Kombucha Tea is an easy and convenient way to get more probiotics into your diet.
Dr Oz: Probiotic Yogurt Recommendations
The next fermented food that is great for adding “good” bacteria to your gut is organic yogurt, but not just any yogurt. Heidi says it is important to look for a label that states the yogurt contains “active and live cultures”, ideally Acidophilus and Bifidobacterium.
Heidi Skolnik’s recommendation is to try eating a fermented food every single day in order to improve the health of your gut.
