Dr. Oz: 10 Day Plan to Increase Energy
Dr. Oz kicked off his show by talking about how to completely turn your energy levels up. This was a 10-day plan that Dr. Oz promised would “turbo fire” your energy.
Dr. Oz talked to Lowell, a woman who said she needs more energy all the time. She said she could commit to 10 days to try to revitalize her energy. She said she’s done a lot of things while sleep deprived, like walk out of her house with mismatched sneakers.
Dr. Oz: Tyrosine Increases Energy
Dr. Oz wanted us to “turbo fire” our breakfast with Tyrosine for the first two days. Tyrosine is an important building block for proteins in the body. You need it for your brain to work well and for your muscles to be more productive.
So how do we get Tyrosine? Healthy proteins have Tyrsoine, like eggs, a serving of cottage cheese, or a serving of salmon. So for the first day, make sure to have one of those proteins at breakfast.
Dr. Oz: Eat Super-Hydrating Foods
Days 3 and 4 are about super-hydrating foods. Dr. Oz suggested we drink plenty of water. Most people think they’re drinking enough water, but they’re actually not because they’re also losing water throughout the day from everyday activities. When you’re dehydrated, you’re immediately more sluggish and have less energy.
To make up for it, Dr. Oz wanted us to drink enough water and to eat hydrating foods that contain more than 90 percent water, like cucumber, celery, bell peppers, cauliflower, and radishes. Dr. Oz said we should have one cup of these to every meal. But for days 3 and 4, we should eat them raw rather than cooked, because cooking will get rid of some of the water.
Dr. Oz: Eat Coconut Chips
On days 5 and 6, switch out your snacks for 1/2 cup of coconut chips. These chips are the “latest and greatest way to get more energizing fats to turbo charge your brain power.”
But a group of women in the audience weren’t sold on it because they hate coconuts. One woman said that it has a grainy texture and another said it’s oily and has a lot of fat in it. But all three women enjoyed the coconut chips when Dr. Oz asked them to try it. These chips have the right kind of fats that help bring the brain more energy.
Dr. Oz said there’s a lot of coconut chips out there and we should find the ones we like the most to make them part of our snacking. He said these snacks are a lot better for us compared to normal snacks.
Dr. Oz: Iced Pineapple Tea Recipe
For days 7 and 8, Dr. Oz wants us to drink iced pineapple tea. Check out how to make it below:
- 1 Cup Freshly Brewed White Tea
- 1 Shot Pineapple Juice
- 1 Cup Ice
- Add the ice to your glass and pour the tea on top. Stir and make sure it’s nice and ice cold, then add the pineapple juice. Add more ice if necessary to keep it cold.
Dr. Oz: Deep Breathing Exercise
For days 9 and 10, you want to make sure to have plenty of deep breaths. Do a deep breathing exercise when you lose steam during the day. Put your tongue behind your top teeth. Then inhale through the nose for a count of 4, then hold that breath for a count of 7 and slowly exhale. Feel free to make noises when you exhale. Dr. Oz warned it might sound like “you’re having a bowel movement,” but that’s okay. Dr. Oz definitely did sound that way with his weird exhale noise.
